"I abjure you. I see you no longer. I hunt with you no longer. I share flesh with you no longer."
―Alcide to Debbie[src]

Alcide Herveaux is a major character in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth seasons. He is played by starring cast member Joe Manganiello and debuts in "It Hurts Me Too". He is also played in flashbacks by co-star Blake Michael in the episode "Everybody Wants to Rule the World". He appears in The Southern Vampire Mysteries/Sookie Stackhouse Novels by author Charlaine Harris that True Blood is based upon. He is a were (a full blooded werewolf) who owns a surveying company with his father in Shreveport, LA. Alcide is depicted as a tall man with brown eyes, and thick, tousled black hair. He has a younger sister named Janice.

Personality

Alcide is a loyal, decent man who came from a poor family that worked hard to have the wealth they achieved. He never flaunted his weath, and he has never acted superiorly towards Sookie – in fact even Alcide’s sister Janice was sincerely kind and lovely with her. He has respect, and has always cares for any of his friend's safety. Alcide always manages to keep a “low profile”. He's also quick to take people under his wing, and he can't resist a cry for help. Alcide was raised in a Were society that highly appreciates and respects women, which made him much more vulnerable to Debbie’s manipulation. Alcide was also a victim of his father’s pack betrayal. His family also owed some debt to the vamps, which ultimately placed him in the position of being forced by Eric to take care of Sookie in Jackson. Yet even when they were both very attracted to each other and he perceived that Eric had an interest in her, Alcide never took advantage of it. In fact, he is the only important man in Sookie’s life who hasn’t had sex with her. Though even though he proclaimed his love to Sookie, Sookie never trusted him enough to tell him the truth about Debbie’s death. Alcide has grown through his painful experiences from being a kind of naive man into a strong and mature packmaster – a position he never even aspired to have in the first place. Like all werewolves, when he's angry, he actually growls, very canine.

Since becoming the new packmaster, Alcide has been more aggresive and became a more of a leader than a lone wolf. He does enjoy the benefits of packmaster, such as control over the pack and he can have any female pack member. Even though Alcide inherited the flesh of JD, most of his pack, like Rikki, ignores his commands.

Alcide's pack agressive behaviour and murder of the students who tried to persuade them to reveal their existence publicly frustrates him. He despises violence and unsuccessfully tries to cover up Nicole's escape. When Rikki confraonts him with Nicole and Nicole's mom capture, proving the packmaster lied to his own pack, Rikki charges Alice with the assistance of two female werwolves but Alcide finishes them off though he restrains from killing them. He then walks away and turn his back on werewolf socienty, befriending Sam Merlotte once again.

Biography

Powers & Abilities

Alcides Powers

Alcide is a Werewolf. He seems to be more powerful than an average human or a werewolf, and equal to a Vampire of moderate age. A testament of his strength is his fight with Marcus Bozeman, where he was able to kill him with one blow. In his wolf form his fur is white, slightly brownish, and his eyes are orange. He displayed superhuman speed to catch up with Tara in Human form. ("I Got a Right to Sing the Blues") He has taken down newborn vampires and can easily knock them down. He also seems to have some experience with guns, since he harbors a shotgun. Werewolves appear to have heightened senses while in Human form, Alcide tracked down Sookie with Debbie. ("Cold Grey Light of Dawn")
