Arlene has had her baby, Mikey. She is terrified of him because of his father being a killer. Arlene comes home to the baby ripping the heads off Barbie dolls. She freaks out on Terry who loves the boy very much. ("She's Not There")
The next day, Sookie heads into work at Merlotte's, where Terry and Arlene have brought in baby Mikey. Terry introduces Sookie to Mikey. Arlene freaks out, telling Sookie not to read his mind or hers and wailing that her intentions are pure. She runs off, leaving Sookie confused and Terry to explain it away by citing sleep deprivation. Back in the kitchen, Terry is asking Arlene what she wants to do that evening, but she's not listening. She stares at Mikey, until a blood vessel bursts in her eye. Arlene screams and blames Mikey, saying he's rotten to the core as his daddy was. As Arlene runs off, Terry reassures the baby that he's his daddy. ("You Smell Like Dinner")
Jessica gives a weird doll that she has been unable to get rid of to Mikey, calling it an heirloom. Arlene remains suspicious of her infant son because of his father. ("If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?")
Believing the house could be haunted, Reverend Daniels brings his new wife, Lettie Mae Daniels, to Arlene and Terry's home. They begin to sing, while Terry and Arlene watch. They eventually start to sing along. Reverend Daniels prays and burns sage with Lettie Mae. ("Me and the Devil")
While at work, Lafayette sees a strange woman in his kitchen. Only he and Arlene's son Mikey can see her. Lafayette remains unaware that she is invisible to a nearby Arlene. The woman is surprised that he can see her, but mostly pays a disturbing amount of attention to Mikey. Lafayette, disturbed by her behavior, yells at her and she disappears. ("Cold Grey Light of Dawn")
At Merlotte’s Arlene screams at Terry because he left Mikey unwatched in a playpen behind him while cooking. While they are arguing Mavis comes in and sings to the baby. Lafayette sees her while the others still can not. ("Spellbound")
Arlene and Terry are distraught when Mikey is kidnapped. Jason and Andy Bellefleur try to figure out what happened. Hoyt calls Jason to tell him, Lafayette has the baby and has forced him out of his house at gunpoint. Andy leaves the room to get some pants for Hoyt, but instead downs a vial of V he found in the sofa cushions.
Jason, a pant-less Hoyt and Andy group outside Hoyt's home. Andy is pumped with V and approaches the door and tells Lafayette to let him in. Jason reminds Andy that the rules are to diffuse the situation, but he smashes down the door. Lafayette, possessed by Mavis, refuses to give up Mikey. Terry and Arlene follow Andy and Jason to the house. Jesus arrives and manages to reason with Mavis. He helps Jason to dig for the remains of Mavis's son. Once found, she holds the skeletal remains of her boy. Jesus grips her shoulder and casts an exorcism spell. Mavis leaves Lafayette's body in a shimmer of bright, golden lights. She thanks Lafayette and is reunited with her son. She sings to her son as her spirit finally moves on. ("Let's Get Out of Here")
In Andy's room, Terry and Arlene wake and yell at him for having V in the house. He denies that it’s his and says it’s evidence. Arlene yells at him and says that he’s not going to be able to see her babies until he gets clean. Terry tells him they are going to "Fort Bellefleur". Terry convinces Andy to get clean and then leaves him to walk home alone from the fort. ("Burning Down the House")
While working at Merlotte's Arlene sees Drew Marshall's ghost appear to her. He tells her to run and vanishes as Terry comes out. Patrick Devins, an old friend of Terry's from the Marines, comes looking for him at Merlotte's and becomes acquainted with Arlene. ("And When I Die")
