David Finch is a United States Congressman on the HBO original series True Blood. Played by Polish-American guest starring actor John Prosky, Congressman Finch makes his debut on the episode "Mine" in the series' first season. A Republican, and a fierce opponent of vampire equality and the Vampire Rights Amendment, David plays a recurring role through the series' first, third, fifth, and sixth seasons, and was last seen in the Season 6 episode "In the Evening".

Personality[]

Biography[]

Background[]

David Finch is a United States Congressman who opposes vampire rights and is a strong adversary of the Vampire Rights Amendment.

Season 1[]

"Mine"[]

Congressman David Finch is seen leaving Lafayette Reynolds' house. It is obvious he is having an affair with Lafayette. ("Mine")

"I Don't Wanna Know"[]

The Congressman is strongly opposed to the Vampire Rights Amendment. ("I Don't Wanna Know")

"To Love Is to Bury"[]

Lafayette confronts the Congressman about this at a rally. ("To Love Is to Bury")

Season 3[]

"I Got a Right to Sing the Blues"[]

Congressman Finch appeared on Sunday Morning with McCafferty in a debate with Nan Flanagan of the American Vampire League. He expresses his opposition to the approval of the VRA. ("I Got a Right to Sing the Blues")

Season 5[]

"Gone, Gone, Gone"[]

Steve Newlin and Congressman Finch argue over the purpose of the attack on the Tru Blood factories during their televised debate. Finch correctly suggests that an anti-mainstreaming vampire faction is responsible. Newlin calls these claims absurd.

Finch also expresses his concerns about vampires attacking humans with the absence of Tru blood. Newlin denies this. He states that he and other vampires are surviving on a personal stock of Tru Blood. ("Gone, Gone, Gone")

Season 6[]

"In the Evening"[]

Following the death of Governor Burrell, Sarah Newlin contacts Finch, who is now a Senator, to discuss where they go from here. Sarah devises a plan in which they hide Burrell's death, and claim that he has been moved to an undisclosed location. This will allow Sarah to take charge of the vampire camp, while Finch takes Burrell's place on a political front, just long enough for the newly released Hepatitis V to spread through the vampire population. ("In the Evening")
