Mavis flashback4

The creepy doll is a recurring property item found on the HBO original series True Blood. First seen on the floor of Hoyt and Jessica's new home on the episode "Evil is Going On" at the end of the series' third season, the doll appears and reappears throughout the series' third and fourth seasons, and was last seen in the Season 4 episode "Spellbound".

History[]

Background[]

The creepy doll was originally a gift from Mavis to her son, but due to her untimely demise, Mavis never had a chance to deliver the gift. Even in the spirit world, Mavis is still trying to ensure that her child receives his present.

Season 3[]

"Evil is Going On"[]

This doll is first seen at the end of season 3, lying on the floor of Hoyt and Jessica's new house. ("Evil is Going On")

Season 4[]

"If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?"[]

Hoyt took the doll to the dump and threw it away, only to have it mysteriously reappear back home. Jessica came home one night to find Hoyt holding the doll. When Hoyt wants to know why Jessica didn't get rid of the doll, she tells him that she had thrown the doll in the lake. At that point Hoyt decides that someone must be messing with them.

Jessica takes the doll to work with her to Merlotte's, where she then gives the doll to Arlene and Terry's baby Mikey Bellefleur. She tells Arlene that she never got to give their baby a gift. Arlene seems unsure and says that the doll is all dirty. Jessica tells her it's just an old antique that's been in her family for a long time. Arlene lets Mikey keep the doll after Terry tells her it's fine. ("If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?")

"I Wish I Was the Moon"[]

One night Arlene and Terry's house catches on fire. Arlene desperately searches for Mikey to get him out of the house, only to find him already safe in the yard with the doll. It also seems that the doll has a passenger named Mavis that only Mikey and Lafayette can see. ("I Wish I Was the Moon")

"Spellbound"[]

As Lafayette lay on his sofa sleeping, he dreams of Mavis's past life. Mavis it seems had a child by a married man. She came home one night carrying the doll as a present for her child. When she got to the yard of her house she was met by the father. He told her that he had killed the child, so that his wife, or anyone else wouldn't find out that he had fathered the child. Grief-stricken, Mavis tries to get inside to be with her child, but the man holds her back. When Lafayette awoke he saw Mavis standing in his house. Before he had time to react, Mavis's spirit rushed toward him and possessed his body. Lafayette leaves his house, now controlled by Mavis, and goes to the Bellefleur mansion. He enters the house, takes Andy's gun, and goes into the bedroom where Arlene and Terry are asleep. He walks over to Mikey's crib and Takes the baby and the doll. As it turns out the creepy doll was only a gift from a loving mother, that wouldn't let go. ("Spellbound")
