Crystal Norris is a werepanther on the HBO original series True Blood. Played by American guest starring actress Lindsay Pulsipher, Crystal makes her debut on the episode "Beautifully Broken" in the series' third season. Possessing the ability to shapeshift into a werepanther, she was a former love interest of Jason Stackhouse, and plays a recurring role through the series' third and fourth seasons. Introduced during a drug bust in Hotshot, Louisiana, Crystal was last seen in the Season 4 episode "I'm Alive and on Fire".
Prior to her transformation in Season 4, Crystal was the most intelligent and civilized member of the Norris clan. She could be kind, caring and friendly when she wanted to be. She also regretted the repulsive things her family was involved with, but felt pressure to follow adhere to their wishes.
After her time with Felton, she was characterized by mental instability and a seeming lack of concern for the feelings of others.
Season 3EditJason sees Crystal crying and is struck by her beauty. He can't get her out of his head. ("Beautifully Broken")
While driving by the police station after she was at the grocery store, Crystal sees Jason while he is cleaning police cars. She smiles at him and he jumps into a car and follows her, eventually pulling her over. He is only in his pants with a pair of sunglasses. He tries to convince her that he is a cop but she doesn't buy it and asks him where his gun, badge, and shirt are.
Jason introduces himself and asks for her name. She tells him her name and Jason tells her that he will be at Merlotte's that night but she says she can't go and drives away without a ticket. ("9 Crimes")
Crystal goes to Merlotte's but doesn't go inside the bar because it is too much for her. Eventually, Jason comes out and sees her and they sneak off to a secluded area next to a lake or pond. They make out and flirt but eventually she says she can't do it and runs off. ("Trouble")
The next day, Jason finds out where she lives and brings her flowers. She pretends she doesn't know who he is and Jason finds out that she is engaged to a low-life.
She does not seem happy with her situation. ("I Got a Right to Sing the Blues")
Crystal decides to tell her family that she does not want to marry Felton. She receives a black eye and then runs away. She leaves her truck in front of Merlotte's and then swims in the lake so that Calvin and Felton will lose her smell. Crystal goes to Jason's house and asks for his truck. He convinces her to stay with him, and that she will be safe and the two make love. ("Night on the Sun")
Crystal is at Merlotte's with Jason when her father enters the bar. When her father is being beaten by Sam Merlotte, she tries to intervene but is pushed away. Lafayette and Jesus take Calvin in their car with the intention of going to a hospital and Crystal joins them against Jason's wishes. ("Everything Is Broken")
Lafayette takes Calvin to his house and gives him V, which immediately heals him. When her father wakes up he is disgusted that Crystal permitted Lafayette and Jesus to give him vampire blood.
Angry that Crystal has run away and refuses to marry Felton he disowns Crystal as his daughter. Crystal runs away to Jason's house. Jason finds Crystal in his bedroom in the form of a panther. Before Jason can run away scared, she takes human form, surprising Jason. ("I Smell a Rat")
When Crystal learns that the DEA is planning to raid Hotshot she and Jason go there and convince Calvin to get rid of the drugs. Calvin is killed shortly after by Felton, who forces Crystal to leave with him under the threat of killing Jason too. Crystal tearfully says goodbye and promises to meet Jason again someday. ("Evil is Going On")
A year after her escape, Crystal experiences a disturbing shift in personality, possibly due to prolonged use of V, becoming irrational, sadistic, and obsessively in-love with Jason. She returns with Felton and they kidnap Jason and tie him to a bed. She explains that, because of generations of inbreeding, the men in Hotshot had become sterile or had extremely low fertility, that the women rarely got pregnant, and the offspring that lived weren't "much to brag about". Hoping to introduce some new blood to Hotshot, Felton and Crystal both bite Jason to turn him into a werepanther, as this was the only way to assure that his children would be too. ("You Smell Like Dinner")
As he is recovering later, Crystal doses him with Viagra and rapes him to get pregnant with his child. ("If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?")
She also allows several other Hotshot women to rape him. The next day Jason escapes and the werepanthers chase him but he manages to kill Felton in self-defense. Crystal is happy with this because now she is the leader of the pack, and tells Jason to come with her. Jason refuses, saying she is evil and he never wanted to see her again. Crystal leaves but not before warning Jason that in the next full moon he will turn and Hotshot will be the only place for him to go after that. ("I'm Alive and on Fire")
Powers and AbilitiesEditCrystal is a werepanther. Werepanthers are stronger than humans and possibly stronger than most werewolves. It is also probable that meth has the same effects on werepanthers as V has for werewolves. A werepanther has the ability to shift form from human to panther and has the same abilities and traits as panthers.
