Daniel Gillies, born March 14, 1976 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is a Canadian actor who plays the role of Jon on the HBO original series True Blood. A thief trying to rob Sam Merlotte, Daniel meets an untimely demise at the hands of Sam during his only appearance, on the episode "I Smell a Rat", in the series' third season.


Daniel Gillies was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. His father is a pediatrician, and Daniel was raised in New Zealand before attending the Southwell School and then the Hamilton Boys' High School. He made his acting debut in Street Legal. He went on to play the role of John Jameson', fiancé of Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst) in Spider-Man 2

He is married to Rachael Leigh Cook and made a movie called "Broken Kingdom", in which he and his wife are playing main roles.
