"Everything ends...even the immortals."
―Eric Northman to Pam [src]

Eric Northman  is a major character in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons of True Blood. He is played by starring cast member Alexander Skarsgård and debuts in "Escape from Dragon House". Eric was born in Sweden during the Anglo-Saxon period, 900AD. He was turned 930AD, making him over 1,000 years old. Eric is the vampire sheriff of Louisiana Area 5 which encompasses Bon Temps. He owns the vampire bar Fangtasia in Shreveport. Eric is 6'5" tall, has blond hair and blue eyes.

Personality

"If I cannot go on, you must make a new vampire. It is your time to be a maker."
―Eric Northman to Pam as they discuss their future involving Russell Edgington

Eric saying goodbye before Godric meets the sun

Eric is shown to be calculating yet loyal and generally willing to absolve humans that aggravate him, unless they have grievously crossed him. His loyalty as Progeny to his Maker Godric was so strong, that he fell to his knees in tears when Godric decided to end his life by meeting the sun ("I Will Rise Up"). Eric demanded to burn beside him and claimed that he could not live without Godric. The only thing that kept Eric from meeting the sun was Godric's last command as Eric's maker, telling Eric not to stay on the roof with him.

Eric has a great capacity for loyalty and affection, considering vampire nature. He demonstrated this with his progeny Pam ("Fresh Blood") and his growing love and affection for Sookie Stackhouse. When he is reunited with his Vampire sister Nora Gainesborough, they show great affection for one another. Eric claims he would do anything for Nora.

Being a calm and methodical individual, Eric is mostly in control of his emotions. He rarely loses his temper, but has shown a great capacity for violence when pushed. Eric is unconcerned about being viewed as "the bad guy" merely seeing his actions as a means to an end. He is often secretive and can be somewhat of a trickster, but is honest and direct.

Eric is confident enough to not think he needs to prove himself. He has a joy of living and a sense of humor uncommon for vampires.

After his memory was erased by Marnie Stonebrook, Eric's personality changes entirely. Losing his memory showed the Eric behind the mask. He is gentle and sweet towards Sookie and is even disturbed by the horrible things he has done when he finds out about them. Upon gaining his memory back he claims he isn't just the old or new Eric, he is both.

Biography

EricFather

Eric promises to avenge his family's death.

Eric used to play near the seaside as a child. His father was a Viking chieftain. Although his parents wished that Eric would choose a wife, he was more interested in enjoying the pleasures of unmarried life. In the winter of 919 A.D. while Eric was having sex with a servant, werewolves attacked their home. They killed his mother and baby sister and managed to overpower his father, taking his crown. The crown was handed to a cloaked figure who walked off into the snowy night, leaving Eric to tend to his dying father. Before Eric's father died, he declared Eric a king and made him promise to avenge his family. ("Trouble")

Eric vik

A wounded Eric urging his Viking companions to leave him.

In 930 A.D. Eric was wounded in battle while searching for his father's killer somewhere in Scandinavia. Against his wishes, his Viking companions decided to stay with him. They told Eric tales of glory and of women waiting for him in Valhalla. During the night, an unseen force murdered his comrades. A mysterious young tattooed boy appeared and introduced himself as "Death" to the dying Eric. Having seen Eric's strength on the battlefield, the 1,000 year old vampire Godric offered him immortality through life as a vampire. When Eric asked what he would get out of it, Godric said "Life". With the lust for life for which he was renowned, Eric agreed and Godric turned him into a vampire.("Never Let Me Go")

By 1665, Godric and Eric were living in London, England during an outbreak of the plague. While doing a favour for King Charles II, Eric came upon a young woman, Nora Gainesborough, who had become infected by the plague whilst caring for victims of the epidemic. Intrigued by Nora's courage, Eric brought her before Godric, who turned her.

Erictophatanimated

Eric circa 1905

In 1905 Eric was in San Francisco. He rescued Pam Swynford De Beaufort from an attacker in the street by killing her assailant. Her lack of reaction to his appearance impressed him and he decided to visit her brothel the next night. Here he discovered that the vampire Lorena Krasiki and her progeny Bill Compton were responsible for draining several of Pam's employees. Eric confronted them and drove them away. He stayed with Pam for a while afterwards, at which time she asked him to turn her. Eric refused, saying that she had no idea what being a maker encompassed. Out of desperation, Pam slit her wrists and forced Eric to turn her or watch her die. Eric acquiesced and became a maker at last. ("Whatever I Am, You Made Me")

During World War II, Godric and Eric posed as Nazi Schutzstaffel officers in order to infiltrate "Operation Werewolf". In 1945, they tracked a werewolf down to a house in Augsburg, Germany. The werewolf attacked and killed an American soldier before turning on Eric, but Godric stabbed her in the arm with a bayonet, pinning her to the wall. Eric demanded to know whom her master was, but the werewolf said she would tell them only if Eric let her drink some of his blood. Godric was deeply offended by the idea, as Vampire Blood is sacred. Eric, however, did not care. He bit himself and allowed the werewolf to feed from his wrist. She then revealed that her master is a vampire, which shocked Eric. The werewolf took advantage of his distraction, pushing Eric to the ground and attempting to stake him. Godric intervened and snapped the werewolf's neck.

Godric lectured his progeny about maintaining control of his emotions before promising to hunt the blasphemous vampire down. ("Beautifully Broken") Shortly after this confrontation, Eric and Godric parted ways and would not meet again for many decades.

Eric became Sheriff of Louisiana Area 5 because of his age, cunning personality and ruthlessness. Eric has one vampire progeny named Pam. Like Eric to Godric, Pam is incredibly loyal to him. Together they operate and own Fangtasia, a vampire nightclub in Shreveport, Louisiana. Pam Swynford De Beaufort

Eric first appeared in ("Escape from Dragon House") when he and Pam were introduced to Sookie Stackhouse. She came with Bill Compton to Fangtasia looking for information on recent murders of women in Bon Temps, for which her brother Jason Stackhouse was blamed. The victims were known to have come to Fangtasia prior to their deaths. It was Sookie's warning about a police raid on Fangtasia while a vampire was drinking from a human in the bathroom that caused Eric to become aware of Sookie's ability to read human minds. This intrigued him. ("Escape from Dragon House")

Eric summoned Sookie and Bill back to Fangtasia, wanting Sookie to use her powers to discover who had stolen $60,000 from his business ("The Fourth Man in the Fire"). When Sookie questioned a glamoured employee, Ginger, it became clear that the vampire Longshadow was responsible for stealing the money. When Longshadow heard this, he attempted to silence Sookie by choking her to death. This promped Bill to defend her by staking Longshadow. ("The Fourth Man in the Fire") ("Plaisir D'Amour"). It should be noted that in the novels it was Eric that staked Longshadow, not Bill.

Eric, Pam and Chow waiting for Bill to say goodbye to Sookie

Eric tells Bill he will have to pay for killing Longshadow in front of other vampires. He then offers to take Sookie instead, which Bill declines ("Plaisir D'Amour"). Later Eric, Pam and Longshadow's replacement Chow show up at Bill's to take him to his Tribunal. They head to Merlotte's Bar and Grill for Bill to say goodby to Sookie. While Bill speaks with Sookie, Eric and Pam pass out brochures for Fangtasia. He also speaks to the bar patrons stating that vampires know when a human has wronged them. Eric, Pam and Chow watch as Sookie and Bill have a sorrowful goodbye until Eric calls for Bill to come along.

At the Tribunal Bill goes before the Magister while Eric, Pam and Chow stand off to the side ("I Don't Wanna Know"). The Magister questions both Bill and Eric. After their testimonies the Magister decides Bill can either be chained in silver for five years, or turn a human to replace the killing of a fellow vampire. Eric and the others extend their fangs and watch as Bill begins the turning of Jessica

S-1-4

Eric tries to bargain with Bill for Sookie

Not long after Jessica is turned Bill takes her to Eric at Fangtasia. He explains she is uncontrollable and he is unable to teach or watch after her due to his other duties. Eric implies that Sookie is what is taking up so much of Bill's time. Bill reminds Eric that if Sookie were to be harmed in his absence Eric would be without her skills. He tells Eric that he would be in his debt and would return the favor if he would take Jessica into his care. Later Eric and Pam take Jessica back to Bill where Eric tells Bill "There are favors and there are favors" and once again offers to take Sookie off Bill's hands, which of course Bill declines.

"If I want Sookie, I can simply take her."

Lafayette, Royce, and others who have offended vampires are chained up in the dungeon of Fangtasia by Eric and Pam. Eric kills Royce when he tries to escape but spares Lafayette. When Sookie discovers Eric has been keeping Lafayette prisoner, she demands his release. Eric agrees to do so as long as Sookie dreturns the favor. A 2,000 year old vampire from Dallas has gone missing and he needs her telepathic skills to find him. Eric eventually admits that the missing vampire, named Godric, was his "maker". ("Never Let Me Go")

During an encounter with a human suicide bomber strapped with silver, Eric places himself in front of Sookie to shield her from the blast. He uses this opportunity by tricking Sookie into sucking silver bullets out of his body. In the process she ingests some of his blood. This binds Sookie to Eric the same way she was to Bill. Bill explains that Eric can now sense and find her. ("Timebomb")

Sam seeks Eric's help to find out more about Maenads and how to kill it. Eric confessed he knows nothing of Maenads, but he knew someone who probably did. Before exiting Fangtasia, Eric showed his fangs to Arlene's children which entertained them greatly. While leaving, Eric displayed his ability of flight to Coby and Lisa. He traveled to the mansion of Sophie-Anne Leclerq, Queen of Louisiana.

Eric confronted Bill upon arrival. Bill admitted knowing that Eric forced Lafayette to sell Vampire blood at his request. Sophie-Ann asked Eric how Bill knew he had humans selling V. Eric stated that Bill did not know that it was at her command. At this Sophie-Ann pushed Eric onto his back and told him that Bill better not find out or she would have Eric's fangs for earrings.

"Please don’t do that. It makes me feel disturbingly human."
―Eric[src]
Eric yvetta

Eric and Pam have auditions for a human performer in Fangtasia. After many ridiculous try-outs, Yvetta walks in. She is immediately hired because of her sex appeal.

It is revealed that Eric is aware werewolves have kidnapped Bill. His prejudice toward a specific group of Werewolves stems from his family being murdered by a group of them. They where at the time commanded by a cloaked figure, which Eric discovers is Russell Edgington, the Vampire King of Mississippi. ("Trouble")

Erics feelings and attraction to Sookie become more apparent, as he begins to have daydreams of her. He arranges for Alcide Herveaux, a werewolf whose father has a debt to Eric, to help Sookie while she is in Jackson, Mississippi. ("Beautifully Broken") ("It Hurts Me Too")

Eric continues to sell V for Sophie Anne. He receives a visit from her and The Magister. They inform Eric that they suspect a vampire in her majesty's kingdom is selling "V" to humans. Days later the Magister's men ransack Fangtasia and find the V hidden on the premises. They take Pam into custody. When Eric arrives, Pam accuses Bill of selling the V. The Magister gives Eric two days to bring Bill to him. ("9 Crimes")

Eric goes to Jackson and makes a deal with Russell Edgington. In exchange for rescuing Pam, Eric promises to help Russell take over Sophie-Anne's kingdom. ("Trouble") Eric accompanies Russell when the King visits Queen Sophie-Anne's mansion. He physically coerces the queen to agree to Russell's marriage proposal, and locks her in a cage. The next night Eric brings Hadley in front of Sophie-Anne and threatens to drain Hadley, unless she tells him why she is interested in Sookie Stackhouse.

The Magister with Sophie

Eric being visited at Fangtasia by the Magister and Queen Sophie Anne.

The queen denies knowing anything about Sookie. Eric proceeds to violently feed on Hadley until Hadley gives in and tells him what he wants to know. Hours later Eric returns to Fangtasia with Russell and Sophie-Anne. He reveals to the Magister that he sold V on the behest of the queen. After Pam is set free, they watch as Russell tortures the Magister into performing a marriage ceremony. Russell then beheads him. ("Hitting the Ground")

Eric goes back to Jackson, Mississippi with Russell and Sophie-Anne. Eric attends the conversation that Russell has with Debbie Pelt about hunting down Sookie Stackhouse. As Debbie leaves the room, Eric warns Russell about killing off Sookie. He states that "bringing Sookie into this may not be the best idea".

Eric sookie

Sookie interrogating Eric about Bill's whereabouts.

Eric continues by saying sookie is like any other human, ruled by petty emotions. Therefore she is untrustworthy. Russell questions Eric's allegiance. Eric tells Russell that he has been searching for him, a true leader, for a thousand years. He thought Godric was such a leader, but he became weak by his humanity and it ultimately killed him. Eric says that he supports Russell's decision to kill the Magister and that he believes Russell is just the vampire who should stand up to the Authority. To show his submission to Russell, Eric kisses Russell's ring. This turns out to be a charade as Eric's sole purpose is to retrieve his father's Viking crown, and get revenge for the death of his family.

During the day, Eric grabs Hadley in the hallway of Russell's mansion, and tells her to give Sookie a message. Later that night Talbot and Russell argue, while Eric is present. Talbot throws a tantrum and begins to break things that Russell has collected over the centuries. When Talbot grabs the crown that belonged to Eric's father, Eric stops him. Eric offers to keep Talbot company while Russell goes to Bon Temps to fetch Sookie. Russell and Talbot agree to this.

Snapshot20100809235735

Eric just after he staked Talbot.

While Russell is gone, Talbot and Eric play chess. When Talbot loses, he shoves the chess pieces off the board and demands that Eric remove his clothes because he is bored. Eric admits that it has been a long time since he had done this. Talbot assumes he means sex with a male, but Eric responds with "No, a vampire." They begin to kiss. As Eric positions himself behind Talbot, he tells him that Russell took his family and now he would take Russell's. Talbot, realizing whats happening, gets staked by Eric. ("Night on the Sun")

The same night, Eric returns to Fangtasia telling Pam that he killed Talbot and that they need sanctuary. Moments later, Nan Flanagan arrives to discuss the disappearance of the Magister. Eric gives a statement about Russell's plans and how he killed Magnus. He also tells Nan and the Authority about his family's death and his wish to get his revenge. Nan informs him that he and Pam cannot leave Fangtasia until the Authority decides what to do with him and the information he provided.

S03e09-ss2

Eric interviewed by Nan at Fangtasia.

Eric does not rest during the day and when Pam wakes up, he assures her that he will take all the blame. He adds, that in case he dies, Pam must become a maker. Nan informs him that the Authority has denied all knowledge about his statement and the ruling itself. She then states that he can take his revenge on Russell although without any support from them. ("Everything Is Broken") Sookie shows up at Fangtasia to speak with Eric, who is more concerned with giving Sookie a goodbye kiss should he not survive his impending face off with the king. Pam interrupts the farewell, pulling Eric aside, begging him to figure out a way to use Sookie to deal with Russell.

Being a Fae, her blood is rare and valuable to vampires but being a hybrid her blood only works as "supernatural suncreen" to vampires for a few minutes at most. Eric brings Russell to Sookie's car, stopping it instantly. They bring Sookie and Bill back to Fangtasia where they both feed from her. With Sookie's blood enabling them to walk in the sun Eric proceeds to exit Fangtasia. With Russell watching on the security monitors and realizing that Eric can freely walk in the sun, he joins him outside.

EricNorthVamped

As Russell joins Eric, he uses silver handcuffs to cuff himself to the king; preparing to meet the sun with the vampire who killed his human family over a 1,000 years ago. As he's laying on the ground waiting to die, his maker Godric appears to him and tells him that with death comes peace, even for his worst enemy. Eric enraged, screams at the apparent apparition at the thought of Russell finding peace. Sookie wakes after drinking from Bill and realizes what Eric has chosen to do. She immdiately runs out to save him.

Sookie drags Eric back into Fangtasia after using her fae powers to break the handcuffs, separating Eric and Russell. Eric is too weak to drop fang. Sookie has Bill bite her wrist so she can feed Eric so he could heal. Once he has regained his strength Eric says he has to get Russell. Pam, Sookie and Bill all think this is a terrible idea. Eric insists because of what the vision of Godric had said to him about Russell possibly finding peace in death. Sookie reluctantly decides to go out into the sunlight to bring Russell inside. Eric, Pam and Bill slumber during the daylight hours, as Sookie guards a silver-bound Russell.

After Sookie leaves Fangtasia, Eric and Bill bring Russell to a construction site owned by Alcide's family. There they entomb him with concrete. Eric was determined that Russell would not find peace with true death. Since Eric has spent a 1000 years in misery, Russell would get a 100 years with no escape from the grief of losing his progeny. After Russell is mostly covered, Eric iscuffed by silver and thrown into a nearby pit by Bill. He as well is covered in concrete. Bill orders for Eric's progeny Pam to be killed but did not think she would actually defeat her attacker. Once Pam killed her attacker she is summoned by her maker Eric to dig him out. Eric shows up on Sookie's porch. He is covered with cement after being freed. He finally reveals the truth about Bill, informing Sookie that he only came to Bon Temps to investigate her. All of this was on behalf of Queen Sophie-Anne, solely based on what she might be. He also informs Sookie that Bill let The Rattrays attack her to the point of near death- knowing she would have to drink his blood to survive. This way he was able to track her from day one. ("Evil is Going On")

047

Eric is first seen waking from his daily slumber, as Sookie arrives back from Fairy. After night fall, Bill and Eric appear at Sookie's house. They have words and Bill orders Eric to leave. Before leaving he reminds Sookie that everyone who claimed to have loved her, gave up and abandoned her, but he never did. Eric returns to Fangtasia to find Pam unsuccessfully making an ad commercial for Nan.He steps in and gets it done on the first take.

A few nights later Sookie has finished showering and disrobes only to find Eric in her room. She quickly covers herself but not before Eric admires her openly. She asks him if she is having another dream but he assures her she's not.

Then she asks how he got in the house since she had rescinded his invitation before she disappeared the year before. He tells her she doesn't own the house anymore and pulls a set of keys from his pocket and dangles them in front of her. He then throws her robe aside and slowly walks to her saying "Sookie, you...are...mine", extending his fangs in a show of dominance ("She's Not There")

Eric follows Sookie downstairs and explains the reasons for buying her house. He told her he knew she was still alive. He wants to own the home, so he can own her. He explains how sweet her blood smells, and that she needs his protection. Later, Eric goes to visit "King Bill". Bill tells Eric about a new coven in town. He tells Bill he will check it out, but not before bowing and mocking Bill by remarking "My King". With a smile on his face, he leaves.

Eric enters the coven's gathering and attempts to feed from Marnie Stonebrook when the coven begins to chant. When Marnie is freed she casts a spell on Eric who leaves in a daze. Eric wanders the streets confused when Sookie pulls up and calls his name. Eric only replies "who?". ("You Smell Like Dinner")

Eric craves what he is smelling and attacks Sookie in her car. She hits the gas and leaves Eric behind. She stops the car and notices that Eric is no longer there. In a flash Eric grabs Sookie in her driver's seat. She fends him off and asks him what his last memory is. He seems confused, but recalls the eyes and the chanting. Sookie offers to help him as long as he doesn't touch or feed from her. She brings Eric to her house and calls Pam. Pam arrives at Sookie's house in a flash. Eric is startled and quickly asks, "Who the f*** is she?".

"Sookie...you...are...mine..."

When Pam threatens Sookie, Eric throws her across the room. Sookie agrees to help as long as they pay her for her trouble. Eric is obviously attracted to Sookie. He giggles while she cleans the mud off his feet, saying it tickles. He tells her she is beautiful. Hesitantly, Eric joins Sookie in his cubby. He has to fight off the urge to drink from her as his fangs extend reflexively. Embarrassed, he covers his mouth. Later, Sookie arrives home and finds her fairy godmother Claudine at her porch. Claudine begs Sookie to join her, but is attacked by Eric. He drains her dry while a stunned Sookie looks on. After Sookie informs Eric of what he had just done, he responds with "sorry" and a boyish grin. ("If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?")

After draining Claudine Eric falls to the ground as if he is drunk. Sookie tries to get him to come inside before the sun rises but he ignores her. He tells her that he wants more and leans in to feed off of her but she says "stop you'll kill me!" Eric replies, "I would never harm you."

Sookie once again tries to bring Eric inside but he uses his vampire speed to pinch her butt. Then after a bit of teasing he speeds off, even though dawn is approaching. Sookie calls Alcide to catch Eric's scent. They find him swimming in the lake and are only able to coax him back when the effects of the fairy blood starts to wear off and his skin begins to burn. Eric is very sad to go back to the darkness. He tries to use his mood to steal a kiss from Sookie but she is unconvinced. ("I'm Alive and on Fire")

Eric dreams that he is watching Sookie sleep. Godric appears to him as an evil spirit, urging Eric to drink from Sookie. Eric wakes and finds solace in Sookie's bed. During nightfall, he leaves his cubby to find Sookie and Tara chatting in the livingroom. Tara screams and grabs a fire poker. Enraged she yells out all the atrocious things Eric has done to both her and Sookie. Tara leaves and Eric is shocked to hear of the things he did to Sookie. He tells her that he couldn't bear to "snuff out her light", and begins to leave. Walking away from the house, Sookie runs to the porch and calls him back. Eric returns to Sookie's open arms, and the two embrace in a kiss. ("Me and the Devil")

Eric in the sun, high on Fairy blood

Pam has unintentionally revealed to Bill that she knows what happened to Eric. While Eric and Sookie are in the middle of their kiss, Bill barges in and arrests Eric on the grounds of treason and that he has been infected by Marnie. He seeks council from Nan Flanagan, requesting that Eric meets The True Death. Locked in his cell, Eric talks to Pam. She tries to make Eric realize that he is a "Viking Vampire God", but Eric tells her he is not the vampire he used to be. Later, when he is about to meet the true death, he tells Bill to take care of Sookie. It's obvious that Eric truly loves her. Eric is then set free by Bill and meets Sookie in the woods. They share a passionate kiss and end up making love in the middle of the woods in the moonlight. ("I Wish I Was the Moon")

As Alcide and Debbie are searching for Sookie, they stumble upon a vigorously-moaning Sookie and Eric, who are still frolicking beneath the moonlight. The sight makes Alcide despondent, which Debbie immediately picks up on. Bill later visits Sookie and Eric before morning, and silently deduces that they have slept together. Nevertheless, he has come to help Eric survive the next day, bringing multiple silver chains. He explains the situation to them and instructs Sookie to bind Eric if they want him to survive.

Sookie stays and talks with a still-bound Eric. He attempts to convince her to remove the silver, and she refuses. Eric believes that Antonia may be powerful enough that the silver won't be able to restrain him if the spell comes, meaning he might meet the sun anyways, and would prefer Sookie not to have her last memory of him be this situation. Sookie tells him about the last time she saw him bound in silver when he attempted to save her and Godric from the Fellowship of the Sun. He reveals that he doesn't want his memory back. He believes that if Sookie can forgive him for the horrible things he's done, he doesn't want to remember them as he is perfectly happy the way he is. ("Cold Grey Light of Dawn")

At Sookie's house, Eric wants her to take the silver off but she is frightened because she says it will pull some of his skin off. He reassures her that the silver hurts more than taking it off and he will heal quickly. He lied however and is not healing.

Sookie stays with Eric

Sookie says he has to feed and offers him to feed on her. She tells him she is trusting him but he has to promise not to go overboard. He tells her to hold the silver and if he does anything to silver him. Eric promises he will never betray her. When Eric is finished he bites his own hand and offers it to her she says “I am not injured’ he tells her ‘we will be one!’, and Sookie feeds. Eric and Sookie end up in bed together. Sookie tells Eric they have an obligation to fight with King Bill. She tells him she will not leave Bill to die. Eric tells Sookie he wants to be with her forever and she tells him ‘there is no such thing as forever.’

During the battle, Sookie senses Antonia casting a spell in her mind, revealing it to Bill. Eric reacts by killing Beverleen, shocking both factions. Antonia reacts to this by chanting a spell that causes immense masses of fog to fill the graveyard, which starts the battle. Antonia captures Eric in a slave spell. ("Spellbound")

Eric awaits orders from Antonia at the Moon Goddess Emporium. Sookie tries to save him, but Eric cannot leave. During the Festival of Tolerance, Martonia has Eric coax Blackburn, Kirsch and Duprez into a trap. Antonia casts the same spell on them, as she did on Eric. She then orders the spellbound sheriffs to attack the festival. ("Let's Get Out of Here")

In the resultant melee, Blackburn is slain, and Antonia commands Eric to kill Bill. Despite Bill's efforts to defend himself, Eric is about to stake him when Sookie uses her powers to breaking both of Antonia's curses. Simultaneously freeing Eric from her control and restoring his memory. Antonia breaks off the assault and flees, Kirsch and Duprez in tow.

Sookie takes care of Eric

Recovering at the king's mansion, Eric and Sookie have an awkward meeting where he admits that he still remembers everything that happened during his amnesia, and claims that the "other Eric" is still a part of him. However, Sookie feels conflicted. Stating that the reasons she was able to break the spells on Eric were not only because she wanted to save Bill, but also that she still loves him. Eric is not convinced, and states that she is his now, and that he loves her. Any further discussion is interrupted by Pam's arrival, and Eric shares an emotional reunion with his progeny. He agrees to aid in Bill's plan to kill Antonia. Eric and Pam spend the day at Bill's mansion. They join Bill, Jessica, and Nan Flanagan in silvering themselves in case Antonia tries to force them to meet the sun again. ("Burning Down the House")

The following night Eric, Bill, Pam and Jessica prepare to attack the Moon Goddess Emporium. Just as Jessica is about to set off a bazooka to kill the witches, Jason Stackhouse runs towards them. He informs them that the witches have taken Sookie inside. They have also set up a protection spell around the building, which stops anything from getting in. Marnie with Sookie in tow, comes out and tries to negotiate with the vampires. She wants to trade Sookie for Bill and Eric's life, as Pam and Jessica look on. As Eric kneels down to get shot by Bill, Pam gets angry and yells: "The True Death to save Bo Peep? I don't fucking think so!". She grabs the RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade ) launcher to shoot it off towards the Moon Goddess Emporium. Eric commands Pam not to fire "Pam I forbid you!" but she fires anyway. The force field stops the RPG and with vampric speed Eric appears before Pam. He is furious and states that she disobeyed him. After almost being forced into the force field Pam tries to smooth things over but Eric tells her to get out of his sight before he kills her. Pam, distraught and heartbroken, speeds away leaving an angry Eric behind to deal with Marnie. ("Soul of Fire")

Eric rips out Beverleen's throat/spine

The next night Marnie returns in Lafayette's body. She has Bill and Eric silvered to a post to be burned. Sookie, Tara and Holly cast their own spell and are able to raise the souls of the dead in Bon Temps. Adele and Antonia approach Marnie and convince her to let go and find peace. Later, Sookie allows Bill and Eric to feed from her to heal their injuries. Eric tries to convince Sookie to choose him, stating she wouldn't be sorry. In the end Sookie chooses neither Eric nor Bill and leaves them both seemingly heartbroken. Later, Nan Flanagan shows up at Bill's home and propositions both Bill and Eric to join her against the Vampire Authority and the American Vampire League. After she threatens Sookie's life Eric kills her guards and Bill stakes Nan. Eric looks down at her remains stating "What a bitch." ("And When I Die")

Bill calls Jessica and lets her know he will be out of town and that she is free to use his home. Eric is seen in the background cleaning up Nan's bloody mess with vampire speed. Bill and Eric both sense Sookie is in danger but Eric says "Fuck Sookie" and reminds Bill that she has rejected them both. He knows that cleaning up Nan's mess is more important.

Eric and Bill are captured and stuffed inside the trunk of a car driven by Hayes and Nora Gainesborough.

Eric captured 5x2

In the trunk they work together to get an umbrella and puncture a hole in the gas tank with its metal tip. They then create a spark of fire to make the car explode. Before Hayes can kill Eric or Bill, Nora stakes him. Eric approaches her instantly and kisses her passionately. He tells Bill, she is his sister.

File:8 Nora and Eric Sex 5x1.png

Nora and Eric have sex.

Eric, Bill and Nora are walking along a pier. Nora explains the Guardian had Nan followed, and Nora took the opportunity to save Eric before the Authority got to them. They are unaware that Nora is Eric's sister. When Bill asked why she did this, she said she would do anything for Eric. Eric said, he'd do anything for her. She was going to have a car waiting to ambush their car and kill Hayes, but Eric and Bill's stunt beat her to it. She said not to apologize, and that it was "bad ass". They go to ground for the day inside a huge 18-wheeler bed. Nora calls Roman and lies to him about being ambushed. Bill tells Eric, he knew he had friends in high places, but is surprised to have a chancellor is on his side. Eric says not even Pam knows about his alliance with Nora. Nora explains to them that they cannot return to the lives they had. If they do, her life will end, as Roman thinks Eric and Bill are now dead.
Eric Shirtless 5x1

Eric emerges after having sex with Nora.

In the bed of the 18 wheeler, Eric and Nora are having sex while Bill waits outside. Bill comments how New Orleans is only 60 miles away and that perhaps they should be more quiet. Eric's cell phone rings as he recieves a call from Alcide. He learns that Russell is on the loose again.

Nora, Eric and Bill are walking along a pier when they meet with "Cat". She has their new papers. Bill is Marcelus Clark and Eric is Ike Applebaum. Kat says new papers are hard to come by and tells them it is time to say goodbye. Eric kisses Nora. Suddenly all the vampires are instantly killed, and a loud voice is heard from above. The Authority has trapped Eric, Bill and Nora. ("Turn! Turn! Turn!")

Nora, Bill and Eric are transported to an unknown facility. Salome meets them as they are unloaded from the armored truck used to transport them. She takes them down to private cells and locks them inside. They are questioned via a camera/monitor on the ceiling.

Bill Eric Burning UV Lights 5x2

Eric and Bill burned by UV light.

Eric asks Bill what they should do now that they are locked away. They then discover Nigel Beckford. An insane, baby-eating vampire who is also locked inside the cells. During interrogation Bill says that Nora and Eric are both innocent. With the Authority believing Bill is lying, they use a UV light machines to burn all of them. They all keel over in agony until the lights are shut off.

They are separated and tortured. Bill is taken before Dieter Braun. In the next room, Eric is undergoing the same interrogation by Salome. She claims that Nora is dead and asks Eric about Nan Flanagan's murder. He feigns ignorance and she injects silver into his veins, causing agonising pain. Salome tells Eric that Bill has been freed for his cooperation and that he'll be reinstated as King. Eric doesn't buy it, and simply says "Long live the King". He then gets more silver injected into him.

Eric and Bill are lead into a room with the Authority. Roman enters from a side door. Before speaking to them, he holds a type of communion with the blood of Roman, which he takes from his own wrist to symbolize that of Lilith's. One by one, he drops a blooddrop into the mouths of each member. After the ceremony, Roman turns to Bill and Eric, stating he hates to meet under these circumstances. Nora is pulled out of the room, and Eric shows he wants to help her, yet he is bound and cannot. Roman sits and starts to discuss the errors they have made. The launcher used on main street, the fight breaking out between vampires and humans during the Festival of Tolerance. He tells them that they are the Authority, just as Nan was. He then tells them they will see the True death. Roman also asks about the Sanguistion movement. Bill says he knows nothing about it, and Eric says he tries to stay out of politics.

The Authority has a meeting before them. They all believe they should

meet the True death. Roman says that mainstreaming is the only way to live. That they must co-exist with humans. Salome opens a briefcase and pulls out a stake for Roman. Bill speaks up when asked if they have any final words. He says he will offer up an exchange."Our lives in return for Russell Edgington." Roman was told by Nan that Russell was dead but Bill assured him that Eric and he put him in the ground and did not kill him. Eric ads that Russell has broken free. Whether they live or die, the Authority will find out soon enough.
Russel Healing 5x2

Russel is shown, slowly regaining his strength.

Bill says that Russell will obliterate the Authorities cause. Roman, in vampire speed stands behind Bill with a stake. Angry that he allowed the happenings with Russell. Eric yells out "quiet!", and that he was the one who did it. Roman is mad that Bill, a king, allowed it. Roman pulls back and says he cannot go on personal desires. Bill states that Russell will stop at nothing to kill Eric and Bill, and when he does, Roman will be there to put an end to him as they should have. ("Authority Always Wins")
BillEricRoman

The Authority continues to debate what to do with Bill and Eric for leaving Russell Edgington alive. Roman assures them that he will take their opinions under advisement and sends them away, except Salome. Roman reveals to Eric and Bill that Russell has become a "poster boy" for Sanguinistas for what he did on public television. Roman makes it clear to them that he will not see mainstreaming ruined by one ancient, pissed off psychopath. Bill and Eric assure him that they understand and promise to bring Russell in or die trying. Roman dismisses them. ("Whatever I Am, You Made Me")

S05E03 Eric and Bill iStakes

Bill and Eric wearing iStakes.

Molly, a bubbly vampire, requests for Bill and Eric to remove their shirts and places a device on them called the iStake. It is firmly strapped around their torsos and centered over their hearts. Molly tells them that the indestructible devices will pierce their heart faster than a bullet with the click of an application on her iPhone. She warns that attempting to remove the iStake will also trigger it.

S05E03 Pam's debt

Pam pays her debt to Eric.

In her coffin, Pam dreams of an encounter with Eric, Lorena Krasikiand a young Bill at her brothel just before she was turned. In one of the rooms, Lorena and Bill are shown feeding on one of Pam's girls. Eric walks in and stops them both. Bill attempts to stake Eric and Eric easily stops him. Amused, Eric introduces himself. Bill once again attempts to attack Eric, but Lorena stops him. Lorena pleads with Eric that Bill is still new and does not understand his vampire lifestyle yet. Eric notes Bill's bravery and loyalty to Lorena, as well as his surprising strength for a newborn. Eric also mentioned that killing a newborn that shows such promise would be a shame simply because his Maker did not teach him to respect elder vampires. Eric demands that Lorena apologize to Pam. Pam extorts 500 dollars for each girl they drained. Bill rushes out and Eric warns Lorena to control him. Lorena follows Bill and Pam pays her debt by sleeping with Eric. Pam is shown back in her coffin in the present day, still sleeping as bloody tears begin to fall.

S05E03 Pam's cuts

Pam forces Eric to turn her or watch her die.

In another flashback, Pam is shown in bed with Eric after she slept with him. She asks Eric what it is like to be a vampire. Eric says it would take several human lifetimes to answer that question. Pam asks Eric to make her a vampire, saying that they would have all the time in the world. Eric says that she doesn't know what she is asking for. She disagrees, asserting that she wants a life worth living. Pam tells Eric that women like her die alone when they get old, riddled with diseases. She says that if he knew what kind of life waited for her, he would turn her. Eric challenges that if she knew the responsibilities of being a Maker, she wouldn't dare ask. Pam asks him to make and then leave her, sure that she could take care of herself. Eric explains tossing a newborn baby into a gutter is no different to abandoning a newborn vampire. He adds that becoming a Maker is a bond deeper than any human can understand. Eric prepares to leave and Pam puts on her robes and walks to her table. She intentionally cuts both her forearms and begins to bleed profusely. She begs Eric to make her a vampire or watch her die of blood loss. Hesitant at first, Eric reveals his fangs and gives her what she wants. ("Whatever I Am, You Made Me")

S05E03 Salome bed

Salome offers her friendship to Eric.

Eric is brought to Salome's bedroom at her request. Salome reveals that she knows Nora is Eric's sister through Godric. She says that she found Godric to be a glorious vampire until he lost his way. Salome wonders why Eric left Nora to die. Eric answers that he had no choice. She tells Eric that they all have choices. Eric asks if this is how she makes friends. Salome says that friends she can trust are rare. She confides that she sponsored and mentored Nora. Eric wonders if she believes Nora's arrest reflects badly. Salome says Eric is cold at heart because he's been hurt. Eric asserts that it will heal. Salome says that she could quicken that process by being his friend, removing her robes and lying naked on her bed. Eric walks towards her.

Bill and Eric are seen in an elevator. Eric attempts to gloat about sleeping with Salome to Bill. Bill smiles, hinting of his sexual encounter with Salome before Eric. Eric wonders what she wants from them. When the elevator doors open, a group of guards are seen waiting for them.

Bill and Eric climb out of the back of a jeep on a deserted back road. The guards that dropped them off throw them a set of car keys and drive off. Bill and Eric discuss who could have freed Russell Edgington. Eric says only four people knew where he was, him and Bill included. Bill hits the key's alarm to locate the car and tells Eric that he'll drive. They go to Fangtasia and close the bar early to wait for Pam. When she arrives Pam shakes with relief seeing her Maker back. She says that no apologies are necessary between them and asks if they can let bygones be bygones. Pam notices that Bill is also present and explains that Tara is her progeny. She tells Eric that he is a grandfather. Disinterested, Eric asks Bill a moment alone with Pam. Bill takes Tara with him to the offices.

Eric interrogates Pam, calling her a liar and demanding to know where Russell is. Pam assures him that she would die a thousand times before betraying him. Eric calls her a fool, saying he trusts no one and that she shouldn't either. Pam asks why he keeps her around if she means so little to him. Pam demands that Eric release her if he trusts Bill and Alcide over her.

Eric walks into his office, and Tara calmly leaves. He tells Bill that Pam is innocent. Bill asks if Eric told anyone else about Russell, including his sister, offending Eric. Bill tells him that Russell is a great martyr for the Sanguinistas and if Nora is behind this, then Russell would be very useful to her cause. Eric says if she was planning something he would've known about it and even then he wouldn't give her Russell. Eric then asks Bill if he told anyone, including Jessica. Bill says that if he did, he would have gone to her first. He then suggests they go to ground and keep searching the following night.

S05E04 Pam and Eric

Eric releases Pam.

Pam wakes up in her coffin. Eric comes downstairs to talk with her. They sit on the stairs and he tells her that searching for Russell is a suicide mission. He says that even if they find Russell, he and Bill will still be facing treason charges. She asks about Eric's friends within the Authority and Eric tells her he had a friend, but she can't help him anymore. Eric warns her that either Russell or the Authority will end him and says that he doesn't want her there. When she says that she wants to fight beside him, he still denies her and says that he has to release her. He says that it not because he doesn't trust her but because she is his only progeny and he needs her to live after he dies to secure his legacy. Pam begins to cry but says that she understands and accepts. Eric hesitates, but releases her. Pam begins to cry and hugs Eric. Eric says that she is still his child and that she was born into greatness. He reminds her that she is also a Maker now and that their blood will continue to thrive. Eric kisses Pam's forehead and holds her as tears fall from his eyes.

Bill is watching Sookie making out with Alcide from outside her window. Eric arrives and says that they should be looking for Russell. Bill says that they are and believes Sookie can be useful in their search. Eric says Sookie might not want to help, but Bill says they won't give her the choice. ("We’ll Meet Again")

S05E05 Bill and Eric

Sookie and Alcide are making out on her couch. Alcide picks her up, takes her upstairs and both begin to undo their clothes. Once Sookie's shirt comes off, Alcide proclaims he's been waiting a long time to sleep with her. Sookie suddenly throws up on Alcide's shoes. Bill and Eric stand idly by Sookie's door with Eric teasing Alcide about knowing how to treat a lady.

Sookie is sitting at her table with Bill and Eric while Alcide is cleaning his boots in the back. Bill requests Sookie to try and read the mind of Doug, Alcide's employee who was glamoured after Russell was freed. Alcide says he doesn't want Doug mixed up in vampire business, saying fangers bring nothing but trouble and death. Eric retorts that they don't need his permission. As they argue about the current situation with Russell, a still drunken Sookie then begins to hear all three men bark like dogs and starts to laugh. When they stop and realize, Sookie apologizes and admits that she felt if she makes the right choices, her life would go back to normal. She then realizes that it's not going to change and accepts her life would always revolve around the supernatural. She grabs her jacket and goes with Bill and Eric to hunt Russell, Alcide also joining along.

Boot Rally Main

Bill, Eric, Alcide and Sookie show up to meet Doug. Sookie asks if she could read his mind and he lets her. While he says he doesn't remember much, Sookie sees his thoughts and a woman approaches him but Sookie can't make out who it is. She then sees another of Doug's thoughts of this woman digging Russell out with her hands. A terribly weak and blood deprived Russell is seen being held and Sookie notices the woman wearing the same pendant the Authority wears. She tells this to Bill and Eric, and Bill accuses Eric of telling Nora about Russell, to which Eric promptly denies. Bill continues accusing Nora of freeing Russell and Eric deems it absurd, considering the great lengths Nora went through to free them both.

Eric and Bill argue in the back of the truck. Bill wonders if Nora orchestrated in saving them both to deliver them to Russell. Eric asks Bill why he thinks she would to that. Bill says Russell can be a powerful ally to her cause, though he would never do it for free and if Nora were to serve them both to Russell then she can negotiate with him. Eric continues to ensure that Nora's not behind this and tried to help them, but Bill refuses to believe that. Eric says he's being paranoid. Bill retorts in questioning why Nora's still alive. Eric says he doesn't know. Bill says Nora is a traitor and a liar just like her brother. In anger, Eric exposes his fangs and demands that Bill take back his words. Bill, also showing his fangs, suddenly gets a phone call. Molly tells them their iStakes have been activated to go off at dawn. As they approach an abandoned asylum, Bill attempts to have him and Eric split to try and find Russell and tells Sookie she can wait outside with Doug and Alcide . Sookie deems that a poor idea and says it's best they stick together, considering her powers are the only thing that seem to have a success rate against Russell.

Sookie continues reading Doug's mind to locate Russell's exact whereabouts. As they search, they find a rat feeding on a human hand. Nearby, they find more rats feeding on piles of drained corpses. Eric deems they are definitely in the right place. Eric and Bill approach Russell's room. Russell, now fully healed, wonders what took Eric and Bill so long. Eric approaches and asks Russell if he remembers him and says they've come to finish what they started. Russell says that, like his old lover Talbot used to tell him when they went buck hunting: "Give it your best shot." ("Let's Boot and Rally")

Eric506
Alcide is being dragged away by a wolf before he can transform and take it on. Wolves also attack Eric and Bill, leaving Sookie exposed. A still-weak but hungry Russell closes on Sookie, and is about to bite her when she suddenly manifests balls of faerie light from her hands, sending him flying against a wall. Before he can recover, Eric and Bill subdue their wolf attackers and Eric grabs Russell by the throat. Before he can end him, Bill comes up behind Eric, holding him at bay with a stake. He proposes that they take Russell alive, reasoning that if they succeedin bringing him in, the Authority might spare them. Eric doesn't believe him. Before Eric can answer, the Authority's strike team, lead by Councilman Kibwe, swarms the building and tells the group that they'll take over from that point.

Russell hurls curses at the Authority's team and Kibwe. He assures them they'll have to pay once he's fully restored. As Russell is being led away Kibwe asks Bill and Eric why Sookie and Alcide are there. They make up a story about finding them and Doug along the way. Kibwe says they know too much, but Bill assures them that they'll be glamoured. The councilman agrees, leaving one of the team behind to witness it. Bill goes to Sookie and tells her to look him in the eyes. Eric approaches Alcide, bares his fangs and bites his finger to heal him with his blood. He then glamours Alcide telling him that he'll remember nothing of the evening, but will always protect Sookie with his life. Alcide drowsily agrees. Eric adds that Alcide will keep his hands off of Sookie, romantically speaking and from this moment on he'll find Sookie a bit disgusting.

Eric5062
disgusting.

Councilman Kibwe puts Bill and Eric into the back of a truck and tells them the Authority will be pleased that they captured Russell. They ask if this means they'll be pardoned. The councilmember tells them it's in Lilith's hands.

Bill and Eric return to the council, where their harnesses are removed and Roman toasts them with rare, 18th century Austrian hemophiliac blood. Salome tells Eric that Nora confessed to being a Sanguinista while they were gone, much to Eric's surprise. Roman tells Eric and Bill that by delivering Russell to the Authority, they have proven to be with him. Bill plays along, but Eric will only say he's a "pacifist." Roman laughs and tells Eric that he's too cool to admit he believes in anything but himself. Salome tries to excuse herself by saying that she
Eric5063
wants to interrogate Russell. Roman tells her not to bother, that they're just going to execute him as soon as possible. Salome seems upset about this decision, but offers to give him an extra dose of intravenous silver and bring him forth. Eric asks to visit Nora in her cell, telling Roman that she's his sister. This is a surprise to the rest. Eric assures Roman that he'll be present for the execution.

Eric stands outside Nora's cell, but Nora is to busy praying. She doesn't notice him until a harnessed, screaming Russell is dragged by. Salome leans towards the bars, telling her Russell is going to be executed that very night. Nora's eyes open and she suddenly looks ecstatic. "It's happening. It's finally happening," Nora says. "God's plan, made manifest by her. Thank you Lilith. Thank you, she who transcends death." Eric, suddenly dismayed, asks Nora if she released Russell. She says no, that it's a miracle, all part of "her plan." Eric rushes back to the execution. Eric is there as Russell's i-stake fails to work and Russell kills Roman. ("Hopeless")

Eric507

Russell having just killed Roman, tackles Eric and tells him "Me and you together at last." Eric bares his fangs and so does Russell. Then the lights begin to blink on and off brightly. During the commotion AVL guards swarm into the room and catch Russell. They bring him down using a silver net and he is placed back into security. When everything settles down Bill looks around for Eric and finds him hung up on the wall by his neck. Eric says drying "The view from up here is spectacular."

Eric5072

Bill and Eric realize they were used to bring Russell to the Authority so he could kill Roman. They're trying to find out why Russell's restraints didn't work. If silver was injected into him there was no way he could've killed Roman so fast. They also wonder why the i-stake didn't work. Molly, who is in charge of the i-stakes, doesn't know either and is in the process of finding out. They are called to meet with Salome and Nora. While standing in Salome's room Nora tries to talk to Eric but feeling betrayed Eric tells her to shut up. Suddenly Russell appears and tells them he has been reborn. Nora tells Eric she tries to save him because she knew about Russell but again Eric ignores and shuts her up. Salome admits to digging up Russell because he was the only vampire powerful enough to get rid of Roman. She says they're interested in sharing their power with everyone and wants them to join them. Neither Eric or Bill are interested. Salome informs them of a ceremony taking place the following night, and gives them to option to attend.

Russell tells those at the ceremony he disavows himself of his previous statements and says he loves Lilith. Nora talks about vampires having evolved from humans and says that night at the ceremony everybody will drink from Lilith's blood. Chancellor Dieter speaks up saying that it is blasphemy. He says he has been part of the Authority since Roman first formed it and he will not go along with any of this. Before the chancellor can finish Russell decapitates him. Afterwards Russell apologizes to Lilith. Everyone is silent. Bill asks Eric if they're really going along with it and Eric agrees saying they'll go with the flow.

Eric5073

After drinking Lilith's blood Eric is amongst the vampires who drunkenly walk around town causing ruckus. Eric is also at the club where the vampires attack humans. While Eric is feeding on a human Godric's spirit appears to Eric. Godric tells Eric that he knows what he's doing is wrong, but his sister does not. Eric stops feeding and stares at Nora. ("In the Beginning")

The vampires crazy night comes to an end. They return to the headquarters with the majority of them still high and reveling in drinking Lilith's blood. Eric, who has sobered up, turns to Bill and asks him what the hell just happened. Bill mentions seeing Lilith. Eric isn't so sure, attributing what they saw to being high.

Tb 1319
The vampires evaluate their evening. Russell says he feels "born again" and the rest of the group believes this is the beginning of a new way of life. Eric isn't completely on board saying that “I think I've had enough fun for one night” he asks Bill if he is coming. Bill shakes his head. Disappointed, Eric leaves the room.

Eric tries to convince Nora that her mind is clouded and mentions seeing Godric. She says negative things about Godric and Eric is furious, he attempts to kill her but stops himself. Utterly heartbroken, Eric leaves. Nora says that she thinks Lilith will be able to show Eric the way.

At a meeting of the new vampire hierarchy they decide how to start flexing their muscles. It is suggested they simply start killing mainstreaming vampires, but Bill thinks of a better move. Destroying the True Blood factories. Eric completely shocked asks Bill what he's doing: Bill coldly replies "Evolving." ("Somebody That I Used to Know")

While the Authority proceeds with Lilith's plan by returning to the old ways, Eric plans his escape from headquarters together with Bill and Nora in order to save her as Godric requested. He turns to Molly for assistance who quickly agrees to help.

TB 1387

Just before dawn Eric tricks Nora into following him to the escape route. Once the cameras are turned off he disables her with a syringe, then prepares to escape after using her finger to access the elevator. The authority guards & Salome are waiting inside the elevator. Bill betrayed Eric and warned them of the escape route. The guards take Eric away, while he angrily stares at Bill. ("Everybody Wants to Rule the World")

Bill fills a dropper with the blood of Lilith in the sanctum of authority's headquarters. He has Eric brought before him and warns him that he and Nora are the only thing keeping him from the true death. Eric defiantly welcomes death and asks why Bill cares. Bill says that he owes Eric for saving his life. Bill prepares the dropper but Eric refuses to imbibe. Nora holds his jaw open as Bill gives him the drop of Lilith's blood. Nora says that they will meet her together and opens her mouth for her own dose. Bill obliges before leaving the room. He watches them from a security station. They experience a vision of Godric. He warns them against following Lilith. Reminding them that he evolved beyond savagery. Lilith appears and Eric shouts for Godric to fight as Nora begs Lilith to have mercy on him. Lilith tears Godric's throat open as he tells his progeny, it is not him who must fight Lilith. Bill sees nothing on his monitor.

The other chancellors watch steve's broadcast from the council chamber, Russell holding Emma and commentating on Steve's performance. Bill enters with Eric and says that he has managed to convert him to the Sanguinista cause. Eric tells the others about his vision and claims that he is now a believer in Lilith. He apologizes and kneels before Russell, forgiving him for his misdeeds and welcoming a new era of co-operation. Russell reluctantly offers his hand for a kiss.

The authority meet to discuss spreading their message. Russell brings up the possibility of day walking using the blood of faeries. He believes they should attempt to synthesize faerie blood just as they have done with human blood. Salome calls the suggestion blasphemy. Russell attacks her and announces his superiority over all of them. His native accent returning as he loses control of his emotions. He declares that they will not constrain him and speeds out of the room. ("Gone, Gone, Gone")

Eric paces back and forth in his room as Nora enters. They share a passionate moment. Eric tells her that he's going to get them out of there.

General Cavanaugh of the U.S. Army pays a visit to the Authority. He demands that they tell him where Roman is and why he hasn't be answering calls. He informs them that he knows they bombed the Tru Blood factories and that he has video footage of Russell and Steve eviscerating 22 fraternity members. He threatens to make the video public if they don't watch themselves. Triggering a war between humans and vampires. As he leaves, Eric stops him and breaks his neck, killing him.

The Authority members crowd around Cavanaugh's dead body, cursing Eric. Eric and Nora calm them down by telling them that if they act quickly with a glamouring campaign, they can contain the situation. Nora explains that she knows the Chief of Staff and Salome orders them to go and report back quickly.

Eric and Nora are driven away from the Authority headquarters by two guards. Eric asks if he can change the radio station and then stakes both guards. Eric and Nora exit the car and smile, flying off into the sky. ("Sunset")

Eric locates Russell just as he is about to enter a fae hideout where Sookie is taking refuge. The faeries are using their photokinesis to keep Russell at bay. Eric takes advantage of the situation and manages to stake Russell bringing him the True Death, satisfying a long held lust for revenge. Steve Newlin looks on in horror as his boyfriend is staked and then runs off into the woods.

Sookie rushes to help Jason, who was knocked out in the battle and Nora finds herself drawn to Sookie's blood. Eric stops Nora and makes her swear not to touch Sookie. Jason is groggy from a head injury, but alive

Nora-eric-tara

Eric with Tara and Nora

Eric arrives with Tara and Nora asking for Sookie's help to save Bill. Eric says that she is the only one that can get through to Bill. Sookie agrees to help them infiltrate the Authority. They arm themselves with weapons from the Stake House.

Eric arrives at the Authority and kills every vampire that approaches him. Jason revels in the violence against vampires, killing many himself. Nora and Eric disarms the building's security system and release the prisoners. Eric is amused to realize that Pam and Tara have developed feelings for one another.

He sends most of the group back up in the elevator, warning them to expect more guards, then takes Sookie to find Bill. They find Bill about to drink Lilith's blood. Sookie urges Bill to come back to his old self.

Having grown tired of his old life and always apologizing for being a vampire, Bill refuses. He claims to have no real feelings for Sookie and drinks the blood of Lilith. He begins to bleed from the eyes and mouth and then appears to be destroyed, leaving a puddle of blood behind. Sookie is devastated and Eric comforts her. As she breaks down Bill rises again from the pool of his remains, coated in blood like Lilith and baring sharper, longer fangs. Eric yells at Sookie to run. As they flee Bill growls demonically. Eric and Sookie pick up the rest

Eric and Sookie run for their lives after watching Bill consume Lilith's blood and be reborn from a pool of blood. They reach the elevator shaft, but get stuck when Bill shuts down the power to the building. Using Sookies light as a torch, Eric punches through the roof of the elevator. They confiscate a SUV and pick up Pam, Tara, Nora, Jessica and Jason. When they drive of they see a blood covered Bill fly away from the exploding building.

After hearing Truman Burrell's speech on vampires over the radio, Eric pulls over at an abandoned beach to talk to Nora. Pam demands to know who Nora is to Eric, to which he states she is his sister. Pam is upset he never relied this to her in their hundred years together but Eric tells her to 'get over it and have [his] back or get out of [his] face'.

Eric demands an explanation from Nora for what he just saw, but she has no answers. When Jason threatens Nora demanding the same information, Eric is on the verge of attacking him. He is stopped by the intervention of Sookie, sticking up for Nora.

When Jessica is summoned by Bill, Sookie drives of with her. Eric and Nora follow soon after. They ambush Bill at his house, only to be easily overpowered. After Sookie fails to stake Bill, they agree to talk to one another about what happened that night. Bill explains that he doesn't know what happened to him. Nobody but Jessica seems to trust him and she orders all of them to leave.

Eric walks Sookie home and signs a document which transfers ownership of the house back to her. She thanks him and rescinds his invitation, sending him out the door. On the Porch Nora awaits him, stating she dumped the car in the swamp. She asks if they can use Sookie to find Bill's weakness. Eric replies they will stay away from Sookie from now on.("Who Are You, Really?")

Eric disguised as a human

In Fangtasia, Pam Swynford De Beaufort looks terrified as she holds Tara Thornton, who is screaming in pain on the bar. Pam has never seen anything like this before and seems scared for her progeny. As Eric and Nora enter the bar, they question Tara's screaming. Pam says that Tara has been shot and she isn't healing. Eric comes closer and takes a look at what looks like a burning hole in Tara's abdomen. Eric asks what caused it to which Pam replies the police and their new anti vampire weapons. Eric attempts to remove the bullet lodged in Tara's stomach but gets burned just by touching it. He then breaks a bottle and cuts the bullet out. Upon examination he realizes its a silver bullet with U.V light inside it. Tara heals immediately. Eric wonders where they got this technology when Nora brings up the fact that when in the authority they were warned about new weapons the government had created since learning of vampire's existence. Nora then realizes how humans are actually fighting back. Pam gets angry asking Nora what she'd expect after everything the authority did, like destroying the Tru Blood factories since Tru Blood was keeping the peace. They begin to argue when Eric shatters a glass and declares that if the humans want war, they will have war. He is not scared of humans and asks Nora to go over the Book of Lilith again to find out what Bill is. He leaves without letting anyone know where he was going.

Eric is standing outside Governor Burrell]'s mansion taking watch when he hears a human man walking down the street, stating he has a meeting with the governor at 5:30. Eric immediately attacks him.

Inside the mansion Willa Burrell is walking into her father's office who happens to be on the phone. She tells him that she wants to go out which he says no to. She lets Eric, who is disguised as the man who was actually supposed to have the meeting, into the Governors office. He pretends he is there for a bill about the extinction of the whooping crane. The Governor says he hasn't had time to look at his bill because of all this "vampire business". Eric continues to prod the governor becoming more and more rude as he speaks making it obvious he is no longer talking about whooping cranes. Burrell sits back behind his desk and tells him to cut to the chase when Eric jumps up and glamours him. He tells Burrell he needs to stop his persecution of vampires, he will reopen all vampire owned businesses and he now loves vampires. Burrell calls his guards and begins to laugh in Eric's face, who looks shocked. Burrell tells him that he has created contacts that protect humans from being glamoured. He tells Eric of some of the new ways they have learned to thwart vampires and tells his guards to take Eric to "Camp".

Eric is outside the Governor's mansion, being escorted by the group of guards to a van. He asks them if they are going to read him his rights. They state he has none to which Eric replies "That's not very nice." He flies away from the scene, Leaving a dumb look on the guards faces.

Willa Burrellis taking out her anti-glamouring contacts as she gets ready for bed. She realizes she needs to shut the window when Eric flies in and glamours her to let him into her room. ("The Sun")

True-blood-6

Eric holding Willa hostage at Fangtasia.

Eric glamours Willa. He asks what her name is and she replies Willa Burrell. He then asks her if she is considered to be "Daddy's little girl" to make sure that it would devastate Governor Burrell to lose his daughter, which she confirms. Eric then tells her that since she is a God-fearing woman that she is dying for the sins of her father, not her own, and she will not scream as he kills her. He stops glamouring her to begin draining her when she speaks up quickly saying she knows things about her father and the "experiments" he is doing on vampires. Eric hears the Governor's men approach and escapes through the window, taking Willa along.

Eric enters Fangtasia and introduces Willa to Pam and Tara who are not thrilled to see the Governor's daughter in the bar. Pam insists that she be killed, and Tara insists that she be glamoured and sent back but Eric tells them both that he needs information from her and that they need to grab anything they value from Fangtasia because they are leaving. Tara tries to get Pam to stand up to Eric. Pam starts to but then backs down and leaves Willa and Eric alone. Eric begins to try to glamour Willa but she stops him saying that he didn't have to glamour her because she is as sick about it as he is. He asks what she knows and she tells him that her father has been arresting the vampires but not taking them to jail, instead, they are studying the vampires, everything about them and torturing them in order to find it out; also her father had been using government money to illegally fund his experiments. Eric then asks Willa where this "Camp" as her father calls it is, but Willa swears she doesn't know and begs Eric not to kill her and that the only reason she knows any of this is because she herself has been spying on her father.

Pam and Tara come back into the main room of Fangtasia with the last box of stuff that wasn't stolen by Burrell. They take one last look at Fangtasia although Eric plays off his true feelings of sentiment by saying "Its just a bar." As the begin to leave Eric announces that Willa is coming with them. Pam and Tara are upset and demand to either kill her or glamour her. Eric tells them that they have to take her because she is the only piece of leverage he has against Burrell, and if the world is changing they have to change with it.

We see Eric at Ginger's house under the pretense that they were going to have sex if she invited him in. Ginger does, whereupon Eric's party - Willa, Pam, and Tara - reveal themselves to her disappointment. Eric announces that he and Willa would be sleeping in the coffin bed and Pam and Tara will be sleeping in the cubby. Pam protests that they should all sleep together and Willa should sleep somewhere else, but Eric says he will not take the risk of Pam killing Willa.

Eric and Willa are laying in the coffin bed when Willa removes the tape from her mouth. Willa wakes Eric up to talk, telling Eric that she can tell him more about her father. She reveals the embarrassing fact that the true reason her mother left her father was because she had an affair with a vampire even though Burrell had told the press that he was the one who cheated. Her mother and this vampire moved to California and have a bar much like Fangtasia. Eric stops her and tells her there is only one Fangtasia and follows that by asking her if she is just trying to prove that she loves vampires. She tells him that it's really because she doesn't know how long she has left but that she does love vampires. She then notices Eric has the bleeds, and surprisingly leans forward wiping the blood from his ear and attempts to drink it but he stops her, licking his blood off her finger before telling her to put the tape back on and go to sleep, shutting her down coldly. Eric right after Willa's making.

Eric and his progeny, Pam Swynford De Beaufort, attempt to summon Tara Thornton, who has fled with Willa. When Tara appears, Eric immediately demands to know where the governor's daughter is. He threatens Tara when she refuses to tell him. Pam tries to stand up for Tara, but is shouted down by an enraged Eric. Tara reveals she took Willa to the nearby fairgrounds and Eric leaves to find the girl after ordering Pam to meet with him later.

At the fairgrounds, Eric Northman finds Willa Burrell waiting for him on the carousel. She tells him that she hates what her father is doing and that she is on his side. Intrigued, Eric asks if Willa truly wants to help vampires. When she says she does, Eric digs a grave and begins the process of making Willa a vampire, with the hopes that Truman will finally begin to see the vampires in a human light if his daughter becomes one. He also states that he feels Willa deserves to be a vampire, due to her strong beliefs against her father's abuse of the species. Thus, commencing into making her into one of the undead.

Having awoken from their sleep, Eric calls in a donor to feed Willa for the first time. Willa is excited by her new life as a vampire, but quickly becomes upset when Eric reveals that he is going to send her back to her home, so that her father can see that she is not a monster and that other vampires are not monsters either. Willa protests and accuses Eric of being a monster, just as her father had told her. Eric tries to comfort her by telling her that she is only the second progeny he has ever made in over a thousand years and that he did not make that decision lightly before commanding her to go. ("At Last")

Powers & Abilities

La vendetta

Eric (after drinking the blood of Warlow) commits a massacre at Camp Vampire

Eric has the common powers and weaknesses of a vampire. Eric is over 1,000 years old but retains the appearance of a young middle-aged man. As a vampire, Eric has an infinite lifespan. He does not physically age nor can he die from natural causes such as disease or old age. According to Queen Sophie Ann, Eric is the oldest and strongest vampire citizen of Louisiana. He demonstrates his superior strength over her when he forcefully throws her to the floor and threatens to rip-off her head, while all she could do was submit. Eric once kicked a man across Fangtasia without much effort and sent Lafayette to the floor with just a flick of his wrist. He manhandled, overpowered and tore Royce Williams apart with his bare hands. He easily ripped Roy's heart out of his chest with one hand and has decapitated both humans and younger vampires with only a karate chop. Eric was however, far weaker than his maker Godric who was over 2,000 years at the time of his true death) or his foes Salome Agrippa (also 2,000 years old at time of true death) or Russell Edgington (almost 3,000 years at the time of his true death).

Eric's Powers

Eric takes flight

Eric can move at speeds that make him appear as a blur. This allows him to cover short distances instantaneously and longer distances in short periods of time. Even a gun-fired bullet appears to move in slow motion to him. Eric heals rapidly and fully from any non-fatal injury. He is exempt from all human diseases and illnesses with the exception of Hepatitis D. Eric possesses heightened senses and can see in complete darkness. It is revealed in Season 2 that Eric has the ability to fly, a rare but useful vampire power. Originally assumed to be due to his age, it seems as though this ability might be tied to Godric's bloodline, since the much younger Nora can also fly.

As a maker he had the ability to call and command his progeny, Pam and Willa. He lost these abilities on Pam when he released her.

Like Bill, Eric can daywalk permanently, seeing as he drained almost all of Warlow blood. Now letting her walk in the sun light with no ill-effect.

Eric is the sixth-oldest vampire introduced in True Blood behind Russell Edgington, Godric, Salome Agrippa, and Macklyn Warlow. Due to the others all meeting True Death but Warlow, Eric is currently the second oldest vampire on the show.

Trivia

  • According to Pam, Eric owns a farm in Öland (Sweden) which she despises. This may be on the site of his ancestral royal domain.
  • His other properties include a plantation in the Caribbean and a five-star apartment in Paris.
  • He briefly took possession of the Stackhouse home for about half a year and renovated it. He has since officially returned it to Sookie for her protection.

Etymology
