Alfre Woodard, born November 8, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is an American actress who plays the role of Ruby Jean Reynolds on the HBO original series True Blood. Making her debut on the episode "Beautifully Broken" in the series' third season, Alfre plays the role of a medium, series' regular Lafayette Reynolds' mother, and Tara Thornton's aunt. A recurring special guest starring actress through the series' third and fifth seasons, she lives in a convalescent home, and was last seen in the Season 5 episode "Hopeless".
Biography[]
Woodard was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Constance, a homemaker, and Marion H. Woodard, an entrepreneur and interior designer.
Woodard attended Bishop Kelley High School, a private Catholic school in Tulsa. She studied Drama at Boston University from which she graduated.
