Giles Matthey, born in England, is a British actor who plays the role of Claude Crane on the HBO original series True Blood. Making his debut on the episode "Whatever I Am, You Made Me", in the series' fifth season, Giles plays the role of a telepathic faerie who is brash and cynical, the owner of the faerie nightclub Hot Wings, and brother to 17 sisters, including Claudine, Claudette, Claudia, Claudwina, Claudija and Claudellen. After the death of his fraternal twin sister Claudine, Giles has taken it upon himself to guard and protect Claudine's goddaughter Sookie Stackhouse. Replacing Neil Hopkins, a single episode American guest starring actor who played the role of Claude Crane on the episode "She's Not There", at the beginning of the series' fourth season, Giles plays a recurring role through the series' fifth, and sixth seasons, and is presumed to have met an untimely demise in the Season 6 episode "You're No Good".

Claude the first character in True Blood's history to be recast. Claude's character originally debuts on the episode "She's Not There", in the series' fourth season, where he was portrayed by single episode guest star Neil Hopkins. Giles Matthey took over the role of Claude for the series' fifth, and subsequent seasons, debuting in the episode "Whatever I Am, You Made Me".
