"From Dead to Worse", released in May of 2008, is the eighth book in Award-winning author Charlaine Harris' New York Times best selling series "The Southern Vampire Mysteries", also known as the "Sookie Stackhouse novels", and as of recent, the "True Blood novels". Plot Summary[]
After the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina and the man-made horror of the explosion at the vampire Summit, Sookie Stackhouse is safe but dazed, yearning for things to get back to normal. But her boyfriend, the weretiger Quinn, is missing.
Through an arranged meeting, she meets her great-grandfather and Fairy relative, Niall Brigant. Sookie is soon drawn into investigating mysterious deaths among the local Were community. Her telepathy and status as a 'friend of the pack' forces her to mediate between two warring factions, where an even bigger betrayal is discovered. At the same time, she becomes entangled in a violent attempt by Felipe de Castro, King of Nevada, to wrest control of the kingdoms of Louisiana and Arkansas from the injured Queen Sophie-Anne Leclerq.
The warring Weres, the fate of her undead friends under a potentially deadly new vampire regime and an unsettling blood-bond with Eric Northman are just the beginning of Sookie's woes. She comes to a troubling epiphany about Quinn and faces a shocking turn of events involving her brother Jason and his new werepanther bride — as well as startling revelations about the Stackhouse family tree.
