I Got a Right to Sing the Blues is the 6th episode of Season 3 of True Blood, and the 30th episode overall.

Synopsis

Russell's bodyguards bring Sookie and Bill to his mansion. With Sookie finally in his possession, Russell attempts to find out what's so special about the telepathic waitress. Bill kills a bodyguard and attempts to kill Russell, but he is restrained. Now that he has betrayed Russell, Bill is thrown into the slave room and sentenced to death at the hands of Lorena, who takes her time cutting him up all night. Cooter and Debbie go into the slave room and feed from Bill, who is at his most vulnerable.

Tara drinks Franklin's blood and overpowers him in the middle of the night, crushing his head with a mace. Finally free, she rescues Sookie from Russell and the two try to escape Russell's property. Alcide appears to help them escape, but Sookie is distracted by the fact that Bill is still trapped. She walks right into Lorena's fangs while trying to save him.

Jason is rejected by Crystal, while Lafayette and Jesus get closer. Back in Bon Temps, Sam realizes that his parents are exploiting Tommy's shapeshifting abilities to win money in dog fights. (Tommy has a clear advantage in dog fights, as he has a human mind inside of a dog's body.)

Memorable quotes

  2. Eric: "Please don't take this wrong way Sookie, but shut up."
  3. Lorena: "Without that sanctimonious little prick Godric to save you, I would just love to rip you open and wear your ribcage as a hat."
  4. Arlene: "Please don't kill me, I'm pregnant. (gasps) That probably just makes you want to eat me even more."
  5. Russell (to Sookie): "Honey, there's a fine line between feisty and delusional."
  6. Russell: "He's been her drug of choice for centuries now."
  7. Sookie tells Russell about her other mysterious power: "Once, I threw a chain at someone and it wrapped itself around his face, like that face-crab thing from Alien."
  8. Bill: "I wish I had known you before you were made. Before you turned hard. I would have liked to see you smile with light in your eyes, instead of darkness. That would have been something."
  9. Franklin: "You have no idea what awaits you on the other side, my beautiful bride. No more pain. No more fear. No more...rules."
  10. Russell explains his political ambitions: "If all the supernaturals would stop squabbling among themselves and unite, we could conquer humans in a matter of days."
  11. Russell: "Do you remember how the air used to smell? How the humans used to smell? How the humans used to taste?"
  12. Bill (taunts Lorena): "What will you do then? Find another man that you deem honourable so that you can turn him into a violent, hateful thing like yourself? Destroying whatever it was you loved about him to begin with?"
  13. Melinda: "You can't trust Sam. He may be blood, but he ain't family. And he ain't never gonna be. He looks down on us, thinks he's better than us."
  14. Sookie: "What the hell are you doing?" Tara: "Killing vampires and saving your ass. I'll fill you in later, now let's get the hell out of here."
