Jackson Herveaux is a recurring character on the HBO original series True Blood.  Played by actor Robert Patrick, he debuts in the Season 5 episode "Everybody Wants to Rule the World". He remains a recurring character in Season 5, Season 6, and Season 7. He is the father of Alcide Herveaux and is a werewolf.

Biography

Season 5

Jackson first appears in Alcide's memory as the packmaster of the Jackson, Mississippi werewolf pack. He is shown initiating teenagers -- which includes a young Alcide and Debbie Pelt -- into the pack with the blood of a bear that he has just presumably killed, and instructs the young initiates in the ways of pack life. He admits that vampires are stronger, and shapeshifters are smarter, but werewolves' strength lie with their pack. He teaches the youngsters that each member must put the needs of the pack before their own, and to balance their nature between human and beast. This image of the wise and honest packmaster is a far cry from the worn-out, beer-guzzling lone wolf that he has become. He lives alone in a trailer and bets his entire disability check on a horse race. He has become a great disappointment to Alcide. ("Everybody Wants to Rule the World")

Alcide and Jackson receive an unexpected visit from Robert Rollins, a member of Jackson's old pack. He comes to Jackson's trailer to caution them that baby vamp packs are on the loose. Jackson tells him to get off his land and Robert retaliates by saying that he shouldn't have done what he did and could still be in the pack. Alcide confronts Jackson after Robert leaves and explains that he knows he stole money from the pack leading to his being forced out of the pack.

Alcide and Jackson defend their neighbors from a trio of young vampires, destroying two of them and driving away the third. ("Sunset")

Alcide is talking with his father when Martha brings Rikki to the trailer. She has been forced to drink an overdose of V. Jackson gives her a colloidal silver remedy to force the blood out. Alcide wants to fight JD again to oust him as pack master. His father suggests that they even the playing field by drinking his stash of high quality V.

The Shreveport werewolf pack torture a captured vampire and drain his blood. Alcide, Jackson and Martha confront them. JD tells Alcide that he is abjured but Alcide attacks and beats him to death while the pack looks on. With JD dead, Alcide pronounces himself pack master and lays down the law to his pack. ("Save Yourself")

Season 6

We find Alcide taking over his pack as they eat the latest packmaster, J.D. Jackson tells him to eat the flesh, one of the wolves brings an arm over to Alcide so he can inherit the flesh and truly become the new packmaster. He takes a bite out of the arm and is now the new pack master. Danielle, a young woman from the pack, shifts from wolf to human and tells Alcide that she is more than willing to serve him in any way he needs. ("Who Are You, Really?")

Season 7

After Alcide is killed by members of Vince's mob, Sookie calls Jackson to let him know of his son's death. ("Death is Not the End")

Jackson and his new girlfriend Jenny arrive at Sookie's house two days later to collect Alcide's belongings, and to assist Lafayette and James to throw a party to celebrate life over death. During the party, Jackson tells Sookie that she was worth the fight that Alcide lived and died for. He proudly declares Alcide a hero, and raises a toast in memory of his son. Later, he overhears a conversation between Sookie and Arlene, in which the two bond over the loss of their partners through gun violence. Arlene tells Sookie that she would often wear Terry's jacket at night to simulate him holding her. After the party has ended and Sookie is alone in her house, she finds Alcide's leather jacket laid out for her on her bed, presumably left there by Jackson. ("Lost Cause")

Powers and Abilities

Jackson's Powers

Jackson is a werewolf, which makes him generally physically stronger than regular humansshapeshifters, and werepanthers. He is physically much weaker and slower than vampires, even in his wolf form. Vampire blood can increase his physical prowess, making him that much stronger than humans and even other werewolves.

As a werewolf, Jackson has the ability to shift from human form into werewolf form at will, except during the nights of the full moon, in which he will shift spontaneously.

His sense of smell is much stronger than humans', even while in human form. As a werewolf, he is a skilled tracker when pursuing a target.

His wolf form has black fur and yellow eyes.
