Sookie Stackhouse and Alcide Herveaux visit Lou Pine's in an attempt to find information about the werewolves that kidnapped Bill Compton. Sookie picks up a werewolf named Gus and when he tries to force himself on her, Alcide jumps in and rescues her. He is beaten and almost thrown out of the bar, but Hollis intervenes and stops his attackers. He tells Alcide that Debbie's engagement party will take place in the bar the next evening.
