"Right up there with incest and bestiality--all of them ain't half as bad as if you did it to a vampire, or to a dude, or a vampire dude. That's like cream de la cream of sins. Ain't no repentance for that. Straight to hell, baby."
―Luke[src]

Luke McDonald was a recurring character in Season 2 and a Soldier of the Sun in 2008 before killing himself with a suicide bomb.

Biography

Season 2

Luke is a dedicated fanatic member of the Fellowship of the Sun. Desperate to please and to come out on top, he becomes viciously jealous of Jason Stackhouse.

He meets Jason on the bus to the Light of Day Institute. Luke found himself lost after having a career ending injury during a football game at his college Texas A&M. While, being lost he heard a calling from God. Luke explains he has been studying and training for the past two years to come to this camp. Needless to say, he's a bit shocked when Jason admits he only decided to come to the Light of Day Institute a couple of days ago. They quickly bond and become friends on the bus, but when Jason defeats him in a game, Luke becomes jealous. His bitterness only grows as Jason is then chosen to act out a scene in front of everyone and gets cheered.

Luke warns Jason that he's going to come out on top, but after a few days Jason continues receiving praise. As Jason's public adoration grows, so does Luke's bitterness.

Jason and Luke become friends again while training. They work together on building a platform for the Fellowship of the Sun when Luke admits he was jealous and even advises Jason to become celibate. They both come up with a rhyme to go along with the burning of the vampire.

During the big showdown between the vampires and the Fellowship of the Sun, Godric sends all the humans home, but Luke is reluctant to leave. Later that night, Luke goes to the vampire nest wearing a silver bomb strapped to his chest, blows up the house (including himself) while attempting to kill as many vampires as possible in the name of God and the Fellowship. ("Timebomb")
