Mack Rattray was a drug dealer on the HBO original series True Blood. Played by American actor James Parks, Mack makes his debut on the series' premiere episode, "Strange Love", in the series' first season. A drug dealer living in the small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, Mack specializes in Vampire Blood ("V"), and meets an untimely demise, together with his partner Denise, on the subsequent episode, "The First Taste". Serving as minor antagonist in the series' first season, Mack is seen one more time, in a flashback on the episode "Evil is Going On", at the end of the series' third season.

Biography

Background

Mack and his wife are "drainers," V-dealers who kidnap vampires and drain them of their blood for consumption and profit. Like most drainers, he and his wife presumably kill their victims once they have no more use for them. Mack's excessive use of V has caused him to develop an addiction and he is already experiencing withdrawal symptoms when he is first seen.

Season 1

"Strange Love"

In an attempt to drain Bill Compton of his blood to sell, the Rattrays were stopped by a chain-wielding Sookie in the parking lot of Merlotte's. ("Strange Love") Having sworn revenge, the Rattrays returned the following night and began to mercilessly beat Sookie outside Merlotte's. ("Strange Love")

"The First Taste"

Bill came to her rescue and killed the Rattrays, saving Sookie from what would have been a fatal beating. The following day, the Rattrays were mysteriously found crushed to death by their trailer supposedly having been hit by a tornado. Bill later admitted to Sookie that he fed on and crushed them. ("The First Taste")

Season 3

"Evil is Going On"

At the end of Season 3, Eric reveals to Sookie that Bill purposely allowed the Rattrays to beat her to a point of near death, just so he could give her some of his blood. Bill admits that this is true, prompting Sookie to rescind both Bill's and Eric's invitation into her house. ("Evil is Going On")
