Mae was the great-great grandmother of Lafayette Reynolds and Tara Thornton; she was also a very powerful conjurer.
Biography
During the times of slavery, Mae would mix together medicine and herbs around her bed to ensure that she would never have to share a bed with her master, a ritual she shared with her daughter, Winnie.
Jesus called Mae a conjurer, so she most likely practiced a form of Hoodoo (also called Rootwork) an African-American folk magick tradition.
