Melissa Ivy Rauch, born June 23, 1980 in Marlboro, New Jersey, is an American actress who plays the role of Summer on the HBO original series True Blood. Making her debut on the episode "Trouble" in the series' third season, Melissa plays the role of a girl in love in Hoyt Fortenberry. Playing a recurring role through the same season, Melissa made food for Hoyt and was even willing to have sex with him to close the gap she feels between them. Hoyt was not been serious with her because he still had feelings for Jessica Hamby, and even though he wound up marrying Jessica, Melissa never stopped liking Hoyt, and was last seen on the episode "Evil is Going On", at the end of the series' third season.
Melissa attended Marymount Manhattan college in New York City, where she received a BFA degree. While going to school, Melissa performed stand-up comedy around Manhattan, and soon made a name for herself on the NYC comedy scene. Her one-woman show, "The Miss Education of Jenna Bush," in which she portrayed the former President's daughter, garnered critical acclaim and played to sold out audiences ("Outstanding Solo Show" and "TheaterMania's Audience Favorite Award" - New York International Fringe Festival / HBO's US Comedy Arts Festival).
Melissa currently resides in Los Angeles with her writing partner/boyfriend, Winston Beigel.
Outside of this role, she is best known for her role as Dr. Bernadette Rostenkowski on the American sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
