Roy was a humble, yet mentally disturbed wiccan on the HBO original series True Blood. Played by American guest starring actor Dean Chekvala, Roy makes his debut on the episode "She's Not There", at the beginning of the series' fourth season. As a member of Marnie Stonebrook's coven, he was the only faithful and loyal companion of Antonia and later Marnie. Playing a recurring role through the series' fourth season, Roy was the secondary antagonist of the same season, and was last seen in the Season 4 episode "Soul of Fire".

Background

Season 4

"She's Not There"

Roy participates in a ritual to resurrect Marnie's familiar. The coven are surprised when their spell is successful. ("She's Not There")

"You Smell Like Dinner"

At the next meeting the witches buzz what they've achieved. Someone asks Marnie what they're going to bring back next, and with a twisted smile on her face, Marnie answers that they're going to bring back a person. The coven is shocked and Tara Thornton decides she's going to wait outside.

Eric arrives at the coven's meeting and asks Marnie to identify herself. She steps forward and Eric politely thanks her. He informs her that the coven is disbanded, adding: "Before you think of agreeing and meeting behind my back, know this: There is no behind my back."

Marnie asks what's in it for her, and Eric grows angry. Lafayette tells her that Eric does not negotiate, and urges Marnie to accept. Tara comes inside to see what's going on and seeing Eric there, she groans, "I hate this place."

Marnie considers for a moment, then quickly says, "Join hands." But Eric is faster. He grabs Marnie and sinks his fangs into her neck. Horrified, Holly begins to lead the coven in chanting a protection spell. Everyone joins hands but Lafayette, who is too scared to participate. Tara runs up behind Eric with a stake. Eric quickly throws Marnie down and seizes Tara by the neck. He smiles. "What have we here?"

Seeing Tara in danger, Lafayette joins the circle, and Marnie rises off of the floor as the room goes dark. She is possessed by a spirit and chants an incantation in Latin. Eric drops Tara and suddenly looks very afraid. His fangs retract, his gaze goes blank, and he flees the magic shop. ("You Smell Like Dinner")

"If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?"

Marnie Stonebrook awakens unable to remember cursing Eric. Lafayette Reynolds tells the coven that they need to make amends, or Eric will kill them all for what they have done. The coven members decide that they need to fight back to preserve their freedom of religion. ("If You Love Me, Why Am I Dyin'?")

"Cold Grey Light of Dawn"

Roy agrees to help Marnie/Antonia in her attempt to extinguish the vampire race. The coven gather at the Moon Goddess Emporium and cast a spell intended to summon all nearby vampires to meet the sun. ("Cold Grey Light of Dawn")

"Spellbound"

Marnie takes the coven to a negotiation with the vampires at the Bon Temps graveyard. Eric Northman attacks the witches, killing Beverleen and provoking a battle. During the fighting Roy and Holly Cleary silver Bill Compton. ("Spellbound")

"Let's Get Out of Here"

After the death of Beverleen, Roy is the only member of the coven who remains loyal to Marnie. Marnie brings Eric and Roy with her to the "Festival of Tolerance" and leaves the rest of the coven trapped by a spell.

Festival of Tolerance

At the “Festival of Tolerance” Bill and Nan are on the stage while a college girl tells the story of her older sister becoming a vampire. Marnie has Eric draw Blackburn, Kirsch and Duprez into a trap. She casts the same spell on them that she used to control Eric.

Sookie gets to the festival just as they are introducing Bill. Marnie and Roy watch from a balcony. Bill begins his speech when Sookie calls for him from the crowd. The three human security guards are gutted and hanging from the grips of the bewitched vampires. The people panic and begin to run. Sookie screams "RUN!!" ("Let's Get Out of Here")

"Burning Down the House"

The Bon Temps "Festival of Tolerance" goes horribly awry. Marnie orders her magically controlled vampire subjects to kill the vampire king Bill Compton. Sookie uses her powers to stop the fighting. Martonia sees the bloodshed, casts a spell and disappears with Roy.

At Moon Goddess Emporium, Casey and the other witches discuss the lack of phone reception, still trying to escape captivity. Meanwhile, Tara and Holly are hatching a plan to undo Martonia’s spell. Martonia barges in and the witches say that she can't keep them prisoner. She ignores their protests.

Jesus is able to break through the protective barrier and says that he wants to help Marnie. Tara and Holly chant a ritual to break the protection spell. They run outside to Sookie and Lafayette. Just as they are reunited Marnie transports them all back inside. ("Burning Down the House")

"Soul of Fire"

Roya

Marnie and Roy

The witches are terrified when the store is besieged by vampires except for Marnie. She calmly insists that her spell will protect them and jokes about the situation. Her attitude causes Casey to get mad and attack her. Marnie, defending herself, flings a knife at her magically, killing her. Marnie convinces the coven to follow her lead out of fear and attempts to kill the vampires that are attacking them with a spell. The witches are freed from her control when Lafayette and Jesus manage to separate Antonia's spirit from her. After the bond between Antonia and Marnie is broken, Marnie's powers are severely weakened, which allows Bill Compton and Eric Northman to break through her protection spell. Remaining loyal to the end, Roy attempts to defend Marnie, but is killed by Eric; he tears Roy's heart from his chest and sucks the blood from it. ("Soul of Fire")
