"Save Yourself" is the twelfth and final episode of Season 5 of True Blood, and the 60th episode overall.
Summary
Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) embarks on a final, desperate mission to overthrow the Authority – and save Bill from losing his humanity. Andy (Chris Bauer) faces the consequences of a light pact he made; Alcide readies for a second showdown with J.D. (Louis Herthum); Sam and Luna test their limits in trying to escape the Authority. The fairy try to prevent Russell Edgington from entering the fairy club. Written by Alan Ball; directed by Michael Lehmann.[1]
Synopsis
The episode begins just as Russell goes in to attack the rest of the fairies after eating the elder. Sookie, Claude and all the other faries attempt to blast him with light but due to him just drinking the elder fariy's blood, it has no effect on Russell what so ever. The fairies all continue to attempt to keep him at bay including Sookie who is beginning to lose her powers. Luckily just as Russell is about to enter the fairy nightclub he is ambushed from behind by Eric who was able to stake Russell and bring him the True Death, which not only brought an end to Russell after living for over 3,000 years but also gave Eric the revenge he long sought for after watching Russell kill his family over 1,000 years ago. During all this Steve Newlin looks on in horror after losing his boyfriend and runs off into the night.
Sookie then helps Jason out, and Nora finds herself drawn to Sookie's blood. Eric stops Nora and she is sworn not to touch Sookie.
At the Authority, Sam has been brought to Bill as food, but escapes by shifting into a fly. He goes back to Luna and Emma to find a plan out of there. Bill gathers the Guards and makes them search for Sam, then he tells Salome that he had killed Kibwe. He apparently tells her that Lilith chose her.
Maurella is making Andy tell Holly the truth about their relationship and goes into labor.
Meanwhile, at Stackhouse house, Jason is seeing his parents, telling him to kill/despise vampires. Sookie and Eric decides to infiltrate the Authority again. Then they armthemselves with weapons from Junior's shop. Eric finds Tara and finds a way to move during the day and moves the money.
Sam, finding Steve's room, make Luna skinwalk into Steve, fooling all the guards so they can take Emma back. However, when Rosalyn comes, they are busted. Sam, already turned into a fly, gets into Rosalyn's mouth and kills her by shifting back into human.
Maurella gives off 4 children, saying that Andy must take care of their children and leaves.
Eric arrives at the Authority and kills every vampire available with the weapons they took from Junior's shop. Salome is about to drink the Blood of Lilith, but as Chelsea rings the Secondary Protocol, she escapes into her room with the blood. Nora and Eric disarms the prison and release everyone. Pam is shown to have relationship with Tara.
At the atrium, Jason refuses to love Jessica as she is vampire, and escapes to surface with everyone but Eric and Sookie as they want to bring Bill back.
Salome drinks the blood, but gets sick. Bill revealed that he made a decoy, and infused silver with it and kept the original blood for himself. Before he stakes her, Salome says to him that "Lilith chose wisely". After Salome is killed. Bill prepares to drink Lilith's blood. At that very moment, Eric comes in with Sookie, telling him to come back to his old self.
Having grown tired of his old life, appologizing for being vampire, Bill refuses to come back and drinks the Blood of Lilith. He begins to bleed from the eyes and mouth and appears to die; leaving a puddle of blood behind. Sookie is devasted breaking down as Eric comforts her.
However, he rises up from his remains, with what seems to be Lilith inside of him. Including sharper and longer fangs.
Eric yells at Sookie to run as he himself runs away from Bill, who growls demonically.
