Background

Season 1

"The First Taste"

One of the leading opponents of vampire rights, he was constantly seen on network television pushing an anti-vampire agenda. He refused to have a dialogue with American Vampire League spokeswoman Nan Flanagan. Along with his wife and baby, the Reverend supposedly died in a car accident in mid-2008. His son Steve continued with his anti-vampire crusade.

Season 2

It is later revealed by the Dallas vampire, Stan Baker, that he and other agitated vampires under his command were responsible for the deaths of Newlin, his wife and their baby daughter.
